Big 12 stays together with 10 teams...

so baylor, kansas, kansas st., mizzzu, iowa st. and add 5 teams....

Possible SMU, houston, memphis, tulsa?

this would be good for us...

Of course, this "conference" wouldn't have an automatic bid to an NCAA tournament for a full year.

making us a perfect fit. We don't go to the tournament anyway, and the others will get in on their own merits (KU, Memphis, Baylor)

Some of you people seriously need to step away from the edge of the damn cliff. It's like the sky falls every flipping day for those people.

I don't see why anyone is surprised by the Boise St. to MWC move. That was a lock to happen. And MWC is well positioned to gain AQ status UNDER THE CURRENT SYSTEM (which clearly is about to change).

Now with Boise in the fold MWC has 10 teams. Boise, TCU, Utah, and BYU are arguably the top 4 nonAQ teams in the country over the last 5 years. Add in Kansas and Mizzou. Air Force has also been a solid program. Then their bottom 5 is pretty rough. That conference is right there with the Big East, Former Pac 10, and maybe ACC though.

I don't see why, if the Big 12 still exists, just with different membership, it doesn't keep its auto bid -- at least, the BCS is not going to be able to take it away without a legal fight. What is the rule? The Big East didn't have to reapply for auto bid status just because it lost BC, Miami, and Virginia Tech and added different teams that arguably weren't as strong as the ones that left.

Why can't KU, KState, Mizzou, ISU, and Baylor wave the incentive of their juicy BCS auto bid to pull in the best of the MWC (and possibly CUSA)?
