my dream scenario would have Houston not win the conference championship but be 6-6 or 7-5 and go to the Hawaii Bowl and be trounced by Hawaii sixty something to a lot less

That would be pretty funny, I don't care who they knock around on Christmas Eve as long as it isn't us.

I am suprised that JJ hasn't managed to get a couple of those big Polynesian players to the hilltop. Sure could help in O/D lines.

actually I believe JJ like to recruit them but I think most want to stay home because of the local families and the Island atmosphere. Plus they get to play in front of their family as well. On the otherhand JJ has been known to recruit out of American Samoa in the past because a lot of them are offered a chance at a better education and sometimes football scholies.
Hope that helped? Aloha!

If we finish 6-6, then lose the conference championship game and end up 6-7, are we still eligible?
I had that same question last year and no one could answer it.

My answer would be no. You have to have at least a .500 record to be bowl eligible. Only exception I have ever seen is if you are below .500 but win your conference and have an automatic tie in(see NTSU a few years back). In the scenario given we lose the Championship game and are below .500 so no bowl.
The only exception here would be if there were not enough .500 teams to fill all of the bowls.

Perhaps you were not in the front row in Houston last year for that smack down. I don’t hold a grudge for the latest debacle as that was self inflicted.
