My point is that you do not improve unless you play teams that are better than you on paper. That is always the goal if you want to move up in the rankings. Bring them on. Sure they might win, but if we can show anything against them, or even beat them it would be much better for the program than playing Middle Tennessee State.

You also get exposure to recruits that are considering SEC teams that are watching rather than a lesser conference foe.

Both tackles from the 2006 season spent 2007 on NFL rosters and the center was a second round draft pick that started right away in the NFL. Both 2006 RBs were drafted by the NFL also.

One other big difference,,,Robert Kekaula and others reported that JJ told the coaching staff a day or two *before* the Sugar Bowl that he was going to SMU and any of them who wanted to could go to SMU with him. The players apparently heard about it also. That was quite a distraction...that doesn't exist since JJ now has a competent AD who refused to let his contract run out before giving him an extension.

Granted the Hawaii bowl is the only game on TV that night. :D

But I would like to go to the Liberty bowl to play Georgia, I would not make us a better team it would only let everyone see who we actually are. We get better in the offseason and in recruiting better players. Playing better teams only exposes who you are be it good or bad. I think we will be ready for teams like Georgia in 2 or 3 years IMO.

Did TCU sweat playing USC several years ago when they were emerging? You play the best you can get. We will be just fine if we can get starters healthy. We are not as deep - that is the biggest issue.

I admit I would like to see us play Georgia. We are not as deep or as talented but we do have around a month to prepare. I think playing a tough opponent in a bowl would be good as long as we don't get blown out like Hawaii did against Georgia. Let's first beat UCF and not get blown out by them. If that happens and we can stay with 14 points of Georgia I would be happy.

TCU's victory over USC was a springboard for their program. I got a little secret-the best team doesn't always win bowl game. There is a month layoff. The team that cares more and is better prepared often wins bowl games. Georgia might not even "show up" for the Liberty Bowl. Happens all the time

Go SMU beat the Knights first then beat the Dawgs. Might as well go for since it's the end of the season.

You mean like how SMU was supposed to get the livin' daylights stomped out by Nevada last year in Hawaii because, well, everyone just KNEW they were the better team...

nevada and georgia are totally different animals. nevada gets no where close to the kind of recruits that georgia does, even if nevada is having a good year.

so did USC when TCU beat them. Basically if any team thinks their bowl or opponent is beneath them them "You might be looking for an Upset". SMU in the 1984 Sun Bowl didn't show up-but that was a strong Alabama team.

That UGA team was the hottest team in the nation with 2 find round draft picks in their back field. Hawaii did not stand a chance.

On the other hand, this UGA team has underperformed this season (although they finished 5-2 after a wretched 1-4 start). I have the utmost faith that JJ and his staff will glaring weaknesses in UGA's O and D over a month's time. Not that's not to say that UGA won't as well, but JJ is known for his tremendous ability to adapt/make changes to expose flaws in a team's defense.

UGA is a hell of a lot more talented/athletic than the Ponies, but they are a turnover/penalty prone team, and I believe if we execute we have a damn good shot at pulling at upset if we win C-USA.

That was the "marvelous" USC coach Paul Hackett's first season and the Sun Bowl was a major disappointment to even have to appear.

It was a big deal for TCU; we USC supporters were ready to fire Hackett after that alleged "major upset" then and there.

Too Bad USC didn't listen!

So its your fault that TCU is now in the BCS-you should have snuffed the fire out right there
