I agree.
Why am I not surprised.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Hey, they may not understand tradition, but you can be damn sure they understand the almighty dollar. If the black gear doesn't sell, problem is solved.
"It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league” –– The Athletic
If JJ won't wear blue since we went 1-11, maybe he will put away the black since it went 0-1 against a team we should have smoked. I got used to them, but hated 'em. Please go back to blue with no stripes. My buddy wore his Dickerson throw back and that uni is awesome.
An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Terrible stripes on the shoulders negated anything positive about the jerseys. Replace the stripes with something else red, even a red mustang logo or large red numbers, and the black would be palatable.
Why don't we wear a dark, dark navy blue that looks black from a distance? Like the New York Yankees' navy blue caps and pinstripes? June and the 17-year-olds get the black look they prefer and everyone else gets a blue jersey. Problem solved.
The cheer and pom squads still wear navy blue. They never got the message three years ago that we now wear royal blue. So that solves that issue, too.
Slam dunk - Army couldn’t possibly look better than SMU, could they? I mean, SMU has one of the greatest uniform sets of all time. But when you go black-for-black's-sake and [deleted] off the uni gods, you get the short end of the score. Didn’t see this one, but apparently the announcers said SMU was paying tribute to Army. Nice move. You got what you deserved

But looking at those silly stripes on the sleeves - well - they've got to GO!!! Busy & stupid looking & the black jerseys made them look that much more busy & stupid!
Let's just go back to the plain jerseys & numbers! Enough of these overkill-trendy stripes that look bad!
As usual Navy Crimson has it pegged. But as in the case of some of the other posters, my young buddies LOVED the black. Let's go for the Walker/Rote throwback look at least once next year.Simple Red with those sort of gray/khaki pants.

Don't think there are many 17 year olds on the team and I'm pretty sure they don't want black full time but supported what this one time uni meant. There will be new jerseys next year made from a different material and will have a different cut. It would be great to see blue again.

This picture is from 80 or 81, the 82 Pony Express jersey was even better, my personal favorite.
Don't know why we simply pull out those pants & ditch our current ones??? They sure would look better with the stripes on our current helmets - more symmetrical with regards to the sizing of the stripes between the helmets & pants.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
