you should upgrade your Pinots and try a single vineyard Siduri sometime.
I know the winemaker, Adam Lee. Siduri's a little -- no a lot -- on the fruit bomb California end of the spectrum for my tastes. I prefer the more feminine, understated stuff coming out of some Oregon producers.
Trivia: Adam used to be the wine guy at the Northpark Neiman Marcus before he went off to California and gained worldwide acclaim for his Pinot noirs.
I have known Adam for many years and consider him a friend. He was also my wine guy at NM and have visited with him many times in CA both post and pre Siduri.
Eddie should be circumspect. The reality is a pool is expensive and the school requires a key donor and pledge for most of the costs, which is probably north of $15m. We had large commitments at one point, but the quality (architecturally appropriate) , location (on Bishop Blvd.) and size (50 meter long course pool) of a new facility makes this problematic without a Angel Donor with deep pockets. Supporters could probably get us half way there, but the fund raising goal line is closer to 90% of the development costs.
It is discouraging, since we were close at one point, but the finish line feels further away now. Eddie Sinnott (Men's Coach), Steve Collins (Women's Coach) and Jim Stillson (Diving) are good, but lack facilities to compete and recruit effectively.
In the meantime, FB and BB will get the attention needed to be competitive. I am not jealous, since I want them to be successful, as a proud alum. Wish I were more optimistic about Swimming & Diving for Men and Women.
