What a STUPID hypocrite. You ramble for years about everything that SMU needs to do to improve recruiting, but when it comes to something as easy as making our football team more appealing to a younger generation of recruits by changing our uniforms, that is were you draw the line. Where has the "heritage of our program" taken us over the last quarter century? Moreover, the point does not just apply to Carter Wall, it applies to all young recruits who have no idea about the "heritage of the program".
You obviously don't know the meaning of the word hypocrite. In 1998-really 1989 before the internet- I stated exactly the steps SMU had to make to be competitive. The profile of the recruitable athlete that I stated needed to be admitted in 1998 is exactly the same profile I think SMU should admit in 2011. NCAA rules and definitions have changed and the SMU Mustang Club suckups have switched over because June Jones told them to but I remain right about exactly where I was in 1998. Full qualifiers with SATs not much lower than 700. I find it amusing that I once got so much heat for being a football radical when I told you at the time that what I was proposing was not radical or bottom fishing like some schools. Now June Jones has convinced all of you to bottom fish. You guys are the hypocrites and I stayed true to my beliefs.
As for all the rest of the crap that June Jones wants to remake SMU into June Jones University-it doesn't mean anything in recruiting-its simply a June Jones power play to show who has bigger balls and runs the Football program. The Traditional schools that hold onto tradition and heritage and have created and bult their own brand and mark over decades are the ones that are successful in recruiting. Texas, Ohio St, Alabama, Penn St., USC, OU, ND, LSU, Georgia, Michigan wouldn't put up with this June Jones University crap for long. The brand that is the most successful in recruiting is tradition. SMU had a brand in the the 1980s-for some reason they will not commit to the succesful brand. The SMU Ohio St. look, The Blue Mustang, the Jets look, the Phil Bennett Blue/Red Mustang Helmet and now the Black Jersey have been brand failures and I sit and laugh just like we all laugh at those previous failed brands and the idiots that thought they looked "cool" and "bitchin"

Fixed it for you.
The frogs fans are by far the biggest losers I have ever met....The minute anyone talks about TCU on this board you run over here like a little gossiping girl...

Are you really comparing us to the most sussessful college football teams over the past 100 years? They wouldn't put up with the JJ stuff because THEY DON"T HAVE TO. We, however, need an edge in recruiting. If that means we do some non-traditional stuff, so be it.
And some of those teams did change their look this year...drastically.

You are taking the ostrich view if you think this stuff doesn't affect recruiting.

Those OSU Unis actually are throwbacks....
and they have the correct school colors...
We have great colors if the kids want new unis, then lets get UA or adidas to design some cool uniforms using the traditional colors...

that is a great idea. obviously not to replace the classic unis, but if they want to change it up for a specific game...why not?

Carter Wall, and others, may stay or may choose to go elsewhere. Someone said on a previous post that TCU likely put up with poachers for 10 years. It is part of the price to pay getting better in this facet of the game. In the end, if he chooses to go elsewhere than good for him. Let him go, wish him well and cheer for the ones you got and forget about the ones you don’t. SMU may lose a couple of recruits but will gain a few news in their place. The SMU coaching staff is good at what they do and things appear to be on the way up. Besides, if Wall goes than look forward to when Wimbley, Wood and Wright get a chance to punish him once a year.

Fricking June Jones man. Losing recruits, losing bowl games, changing the uniforms.....has the guy done one good thing for SMU football? I can only imagine where we would be if we hired Todd Dodge. So frustrating
