Not for long RGV.
I'm sorry but being aligned w/ Rice and Tulane does absolutely NOTHING for us and nothing for prospective schools looking to join CUSA. I bet Rice brought 200 fans to Ford last year. Tulane maybe 100. Neither of those schools are committed to winning at a high level period. Leave them in the dust.

Everything trickles down. The WAC has seen its two premiere programs leave them in the dust and are now on the verge of extinction. You really think this is a happy time in the WAC?

hasnt been 'happy' since their deal w/ BYU fell through.
But are they happy they arent completely wiped off the map (yet) by not losing SJSU and Utah St? Probably so. Buys them some time and try to woo Cal Poly and Northern Arizona to move up

Don't jettison Rice, Tulane and UTEP, they would have some appeal to AFA and Navy due to Tulane and Rice's academics and UTEP's proximity to Colorado Springs. That would give us 14 teams. AFA and Navy have an auto cross over game. Tulane-USM. UH- Memphis. Rice -ECU, Tulsa-Marshall, SMU-UAB, UTEP-UCF for other crossover games. Done. Otherwise, leave CUSA alone. We need to let this conference stabilize into a good conference. Right now we are by default the strongest non-auto bid conference in the Country. Our worst are better than any other conference's worst. Our best may not be as good as other conferences' best. But top to bottom we're stronger.
Has Boise State actually ever played at Ford Stadium ?

Yeah they've played at Ford. I think it was my FR or SO year (so 02 or 03) and they monkeyf'ed us. But that was par for the course in those days.

El Paso is 643 miles from Colorado Springs.
Far East Conference

A game with Boise would draw much better these days. Back then they were much more of an unknown than they are now.

03,
Without a doubt. We'd sellout or come very close today w/ a Boise-SMU matchup.

25,000 max-we simply have never come close to filling our own stadium with our own fans. Not sure if we have ever had 25,000 real SMU fans at any SMU game in 20 years and that includes games with schools our fans identify with-like Baylor, Tech, TCU etc. Boise wouldn't bring anybpdy like those schools which pumped up our attendance

MWC Expansion: Utah State and SJSU
Kansas game was fun
Re: MWC Expansion: Utah State and SJSU
For the most part our fans are an embarrassment, and I think they would do their best to keep with that theme if we played Boise at home again.
Until SMU fans are willing to plan their fall weekends around football games and take a trip or two during the season we'll always be behind. I know we've had a million threads on this, but it's honestly one of our biggest off the field problems. We need to draw a more mainstream crowd like TCU has done over the last 5 years, and the only way I see that happening is 9+ wins a year consistently.
