I know of at least one student who did successfully sue the school after falling and getting injured on an ice covered walkway on campus. I believe the student bought a fairly nice home with the proceeds.
We used to call that an accident back in the day (and I am just 39). Don't know that suing my own school would cross my mind, but I am sure I am in the minority.

don't know when the alleged fall and injury happened, but slip and fall claims don't usually lead to six figure settlements (absent a disfiguring injury, etc)

if it involves a hip and an older woman there are often complications that make it more than a simple injury

-the first example cited a student who slipped & fell and sued..maybe it was a non-traditional student; I assume perhaps you're talking about the prof though

As long as the school paid for the medical bills I'd be alright with it. So this whole commotion happened on Wednesday and yesterday there were still places on campus that were iced over. Luckily my professors said to hell with classes, but I was pretty annoyed by the decision to open school. I commute from Irving and on Wednesday morning the conditions were so bad I would have had a hell of a time leaving my parking lot.
