Other than maybe after mowing a lawn on an August afternoon, I will never understand why anyone would drink a weak-ass beer when there's so much authentic craft beer out there. Same reason, I guess, people put bulldogs playing poker on the wall of the living room.
You can be a beer snob if you want, but don't be an art snob too.
Oh man, where do I start? Anchor Steam is, to me, the classic American beer. Served it at my wedding. Anchor Porter from the same producer. Sierra Nevada's commonly available, even at Mavs and Ranger games. Joe's American Pilsner out of Boulder is great stuff -- I showed a picture of it above. Um, Trout Slayer from Big Sky is a great canned beer that can be found locally. Moose Drool from them is ok. Can't go wrong with Trappist ales. List goes on and on. There is just so much diversity out there.
Re getting fat, you just have to limit yourself a bit and not be slamming a sixer or a twelve pack a session. The bolder taste helps in that regard.
GiddyUp, if you like the euro lagers, give Mammas Little Yella Pils a try. It is from Oskar Blues. Canned in Colorado. Its family brews rock too, Dales Pale Ale, Old Chub, Ten Fidy! My stand by fav is Red Seal Ale, but I have also visited more breweries and brewpubs than most, from hawaii to the euro zone. Thank God for good beer. Go Ponies!
Oskar Blues is my go-to brewery if I have to go anywhere they don't allow bottles...pools, beaches, etc. They also brew the Imperial IPA Guba. Yella Pils is my least favorite, but they have a great line of brews.
By the way, I went to what has to be the best beer store in DFW today. Nondescript place called Lone Star Beverages over on the corner of Frankford and Josey in Carrolton, I believe. What an unbelievable selection. Their sister store, Sams, at Trinity Mills and Marsh may be even better. Wow, wow, wow. And the service was friendly too.
