Tech/Northwestern brought 40,000 fans last year to the 92,000 seat stadium. It would be a miracle if SMU brought more than 10,000-15,000 to that game even if we played a big name team from the Big 10.
No way, was there 40,000 at that game.

Ya I doubt Illinois or Northwestern persay would bring more than 25k. We could get probably 10k if we played in dallas. That's not including outside parties which might take up 5k. Ticket City Bowl is a borderline disaster from an attendance standpoint

Would it be a fair speculation that the loser of the conference championship game gets to play in this bowl? If so, then the best of CUSA get to play BSC teams in a bowl. Nice improvement in bowls and competition over the years.
And wasn't it Copeland that got us into CUSA? If so, at least he did that right.

I would say that it's fair to speculate that the team that will sell the most tickets will get to play in the TicketCity Bowl.
SMU would probably bring 10k - 15k, but that's more than others in our conference would bring (save for maybe UTEP, but they are not expected to be bowl-eligible this year).

And I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that we are having this conversation with something that almost resembles an assumption that SMU will be bowling next year. Imagine having this conversation two years ago.
