Marks sounds absolutely ecstatic about coming to SMU. I love his swagger and passion. Let's hope he can start recruiting some other of CAL's top players to come to TX.

This burns me up: The usuals come on here and are excited about the biggest recruit to this class.
But then you have the 3 amigos on this board -- Their personal schedules notwithstanding -- in Stallion, NickSMU17 and Mexmustang -- who might as well be crickets when it came to the immediate reaction to this.
While I'm with you on the Texas emphasis because it's necessary, it's just typical of these three to go dark in times like these.
What's the matter, guys? A 4-star from California not measurin' up fer ya?
These 3 are so good at telling everybody what's wrong with the recruiting that when some big occurs, you can't find them.
Stallion's latest post on recruiting is to only argue with some guy about something on a topic that I have no interest in. Great, buddy. Thanks for the time waste.
And I'm sure Nick -- who will be excited -- won't be able to help himself and still go back to the "Klemm is the only one recruiting'' argument. Hey, Nick, save that for another time.
Mex may come around --- eventually.
That tells me a lot!
Oh, and I am still not a fan of June.

Not one of us has complained about Klemm recruiting in California-how many times do we have to say this. I'm convinced that some are either too dumb to understand or are deliberatly misstating our position. My position stated about 15 times on this board is that there are 8 other Coaches on this Staff and they did not do the neccessary homework, legwork and did not get offers out in Texas timely lke every other school has done. Most other schools we recruit against have done both. There is no excuse for that. The supplemental position is often stated-why hasn't SMU hired someone like Klemm that has the connections in Texas to do the type of recruiting in Texas that Klemm has done in California. This is a 1 man recruiting staff. There is no staff in Texas that is so one dimensional or ignores its home base

One of the dumbest things ever posted on a RECRUITING board:
GOPHERHEAD: "Stallion's latest post on RECRUITING is to only argue with some guy about something on a topic that I have no interest in. Great, buddy. Thanks for the time waste."
Go play with Gophers.

Going in October when they play Iowa.
Behold the Power of the Big 10!

Granted, Coach K is doing well but Coach Jeff is working it hard as well, so its not a one man recruiting staff.

All recruits are worthy of celebration, but one of such caliber demonstrates a significant change in how SMU is regarded.

This is a HUGE moment for the 2012 class. Marks has been getting MVP after MVP after MVP at every camp or showcase event he has attended in the past six months. You just got the feeling that his recruitment was about to explode. Hearing his comments regarding how he feels about SMU and SMU's image among some of the top players in California is incredible. This has a chance to be a real, tangible changing of the tide for this class. Several of our high profile CA offers are closely tied in with Robert Lewis and Gabriel Marks. Just can't say enough about the great work that Klemm is doing out there. We are going to need to back up the Brinks truck to keep that man on staff!
That said, I agree with Stallion (almost threw up in my mouth). We are probably the only program in America that is putting all of its recruiting efforts in the hands of one man. Yes Reinebold is active in LA and Hill is working a bit down around Austin but who is recruiting DFW? Anyone? What we need is a Klemm-esque caliber recruiter that has ties to the DFW high school coaching community. Currently that person isn't on staff. Wasn't Gansz, Jr. a pretty highly thought of recruiter at UCLA? What is he doing?

Imagine if we had a klemm type guy who wanted to go up against (dare I say it) TCU or TTech...we would be getiing better at twice the speed...
Oh well who needs more than 2 recruiters...

You act like stud recruiters who can also coach just grow on trees. Klemm was rated the #1 non-BCS recruiter, you don't just pick up another "Klemm type guy".
