BIg East is going to eat CUSA not the other way around. Why would you leave the Big East when you can pick and choose the best of CUSA. If you go to CUSA you are stuck with all the fat (rice, tulane, marshall, uab etc.) If you stay in the Big East you get to trim the fat.

Re: Big East may no longer be interested in SMU
When Stallion first reminded us of the potential MWC route yesterday, I responded with a solid "Meh." Upon reflection, however, if we go there with UH and Tulsa that may not be a bad route for us right now. Lots of pluses. Boise, SMU, and UH are all going to be potential top 25 programs going forward. We get exposure to SoCal, which is one of our prime recruiting grounds under June. Plus June would love it because we'd be back with Hawaii and would have the occassional trip to the islands.
There's been a lot of pipe dreams about the Big-12 and the SEC. When I look at the real landscape in front of us today, however, I'm coming around to the idea of the MWC as a next step.
BTW, ultimately I think our destiny lies in the SEC. Yes, I'm going out there with that outrageous prediction. We're not even close to ready right now, but I think we can be with lots of hard work and patience. The SEC would laugh our application out of the room right now, but if TCU can make it to the Big-12 then we can make it to the SEC. Mock me if you will, but I see it happening within the next 15 years. As Ron Myer once said, "We're going to get the job done."

MWC is a much better option after the vultures have picked over CUSA bones.

Agreed. No way this happens unless Syracuse and Pitt go elsewhere. But, left standing with Rutgers (Big10), Connecticut (Big10), West Virginia, and Cincinnati, maybe USF and Louisville panic and we can lure them over.

I think C-USA should start thinking like the vulture. We have a conference that 1) regionally makes sense 2) already has 4-5 teams who have the ability to jump into the Top 25 3) is stable, nobody (besides ECU, UCF) has ants-in-the-pants to go elsewhere. Louisville and USF were once in C-USA. Adding Louisville makes Memphis pleased as punch. Adding USF makes UCF happy. A super stable, regionally logical, very competitive conference that easily has more luster than the Mountain West. I say we try to land this coup.

CUSA can think like the vulture all it wants but it is the decaying carcass that is about to get eaten.
Pitt and Syracuse are all already gone to ACC in two years, that is a done deal. Only way CUSA gets a team from the Big East is if the Big 12 goes to 12 or more, the Big Ten takes a couple team, or if the ACC decides to take an additional 2. These situations all appear unlikely at this point but things change everyday.

we'll be in MWC by end of next week. we're directly following the path of the frogs just lagging about 3 years behind.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

That focus will last about 20 minutes. Then there will be a refocus. Again. And then another one.

So in a few years we can say we are going to the BE just to snub them go somewhere else and throw $5 million at them as a parting gift?

ding! TCU has shown us the way
Re: Big East may no longer be interested in SMU
Honestly, is there any chance TCU would turn down the Big 12 invite....a la Lebreton's column in the Star Telegram today?
Jones said he would probably reach out to Patterson "after he settled down a little bit." Then Jones laughed.
