Won't the home games for Notre Dame be part of their NBC contract? And would this be played in Texas every year? I didn't think Texas was willing to play games north of the Red River after Oct. 15....

Or South Carolina - Oregon State (that always makes a great match-up at the College World Series)

Another push by UT to try and frame themselves as Texas' only team. Went from an in-state game on Turkey Day to a national game. But then again they are having to fight against the loss in attention they will receive in the new weaker Big12. It is their cake walk, but they need games like this to ensure enough people are still watching.

My guess is that they will find a way around the conference deal. They could make them neutral site games. That would not be in the conference deal, or would it?

Right, but this announcements timing is suspicious, like they got the wording they wanted.

Regarding neutral site games, I think it if the game is play year in year out it is considered part of the conference deal but if it is a onetime "Showcase" game a la Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and Cowboys Classic then it structured more like a bowl game. The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and Cowboys Classic negotiate a TV contract then invite teams in on a yearly basis and give them a predetermined payout just like a bowl game. That's not to say that ND and Texas won't find someway around it.

I would be surprised if they didn't find a way not to share.

I think you guys are on to something. The structure that I heard they are working right now will really [deleted] some people off if it goes down.

aTm vs LSU will be the new rivalry and it should be a good one. Both schools recruit Texas and Louisiana. Arkansas, Miss St, and Ole Miss will be new ones as well. I will be rooting for them, UT can go jump of a log somewhere as far as I am concerned.

you will never see that matchup as SC already has their in-state rivalry game with Clemson every year around Thanksgiving and that won't change...especially if Clemson becomes the SEC's 14th member.
I think the Aggies are going to have to look to Arkansas and LSU as their SEC rivals

Screw Texas A&M and LSU too.
I'd watch a Texas-Notre Dame game, A&M? Blech.

Will it be a rivalry or just a yearly beating given to A&M by LSU?
