Makes sense. The closer to the stadium the better!

Um, Doak Walker plaza is closer to the stadium than the Blvd if it's mainly for visitors.

and for basketball, they need some sort of blvd plaza or something to tailgate when the weather is decent.

And why can't you drink on a tennis court? I'm sure I probably have before....

I wasn't sure what the timing for construction of the tennis complex is. That would potentially make that idea tough but presumably there will be a reasonable amount of parking post construction that could be used on game days.

What I like is that it is exempt from UP laws on alcohol and would allow tradtitional tailgating for those that want to go about it that way...especially visiting fans.

The thread started off on increasing attendence, not how to increase tailgating. I still believe that reaching out to the business community is an effective way of putting butts in seats, increasing awareness, increasing fund raising, etc.

Comptetition by business sectors could be created...law, real estate, insurance, telecom, etc....volunteers in similar businesses could work together selling corportate packages.

If there is a competition than there should be a prize to compete for. Free advertising signage for one year at a selected high visual site to the company that brings the greatest number of employees to the game? (Just an idea.)

I want Peruna tv and radio commercials. Maybe during news time spots.

Taco Bell has the chihauhau. Keystone whatever has the nasty Keith Stone. And no, he's not really smooth. But Peruna is smooth. Peruna always makes it to the game on time and so can you.

Maybe a "we're back" commercial. Or Peruna "I'm back." "Peruna Power" is here. I think it's important to advertise in a way to catch the attention of young persons who are interested in football and other sports. I'm thinking back to my middle school and high school days now but our classrooms had SMU posters on the walls. We wore SMU t-shirts. We were winning because of the Pony Express. Got to get the locals back because many of these kids have no clue or are just beginning to see the light.

Celebrites who support SMU can do some add spots too. If someone sees that his star/celebrity goes to SMU games then he may decide to follow and do what his star does.

and more........

Maybe we can get Brian Baumgartner, "Kevin" on The Office, to do a spot.

What if we were to host a golf tournament with a scramble format as a fundraiser, with catering, silent auctions, and so on, offer an incentive for winning just to get people out there, then you can have all sorts of side prizes and such, closest to the pin, longest drive, etc. People would show up for that, maybe not all of them would be there so much for SMU but even though they're not we're still winning because they're giving something to us in hopes of getting something in return (prize incentives). Then with the amount you profit, use that money to buy tickets, as many as you can. From there, get people affiliated with SMU, student-athletes would be nice, but get someone to go to high schools with all types of information about the university, it doesn't have to just be about football, sell the education aspect as well, but get the tickets out to young people. I've gone to several SMU games within the last decade, and everytime I try to bring as many friends as possible. Usually they've been kind of unenthusiastic about it but are generally bored out of their mind so they decide to go for the hell of it. Not one has left a game with the same mindset, they've all been impressed with the atmosphere of gamedays. There's good reason for people to come, especially within Dallas, but I feel it's just a matter of getting people's feet wet. Sure you may get some t-shirt fans, but any fan support you get helps the program. Anyways that's just kind of a brief idea that I have, I know this is my first post, however I have been following a lot of the chit-chat on here for a while, just never actually weighed in on my opinion, but I'm so bored with my life and excited about the program right now that I've decided to come out of my shell. Interested to hear any response to my idea.

CoxMustangFan,
I have not yet seen final drawings for the tennis courts. More my point is you couldn't get approval from the city to do anything over there this season, but they'll be under construction next season. We won't have any tennis on campus for a year.

We've got some awesome food trucks in this city now.

There's the answer. Pop three or four of those by the flagpole. Problem solved. Korean BBQ, sausage, pizza....yum.

Is it just me or could we fill the stadium if everyone who tailgated actually showed up at the game?? There must be a few thousand people that tailgate who dont go to the game. That needs to be our first focus. I am not sure what the solution is but I remember last year (ashamedly) I was in charge of a tailgate and I had to go to the game late. I noticed just an abdoluste ton of people still tailgating who looked like they had no intent to go to the game...what do we do to get them in the stadium???

Also now that we are on tv can we look into getting the tv cameras showing the other side of the stadium? I had a friend in Minnesota who asked why no one was there after the TCU win...I said that our side was full and that he was looking at the visitor side, and obviosuly UCF didnt bring anyone....
