I agree with you it is a cultural thing. Me being a parent can tell you that SMU you is a wounderful school, but not the must comfortable of atmospheres. When you come to a football game and people ask you to sit down, people come dressed like they're going out to dinner or something rather than a football game with high heels, dresses, khaki shorts and their pink shirts(and everyone on here wants to talk about uniform colors where are those colors represented in the school colors). And to top it all off the crowd that does come sits on their hands and very rarly cheers. What a welcoming football environment!!!! I sure hope all this talk is true that the fans will come out with a move to an AQ conference. I'm just speaking from a parents point of view who just happens to make 95% percent of ALL the games and get to see other schools in our conference pack their house, that play the same schools we play and aren't in a AQ conference yet.

I agree with most of your post except other schools packing their house. I think it will take a couple of more years to have really good attendance. Moving to the Big East will help and also the kids graduating from here on out will be used to a better brand of football and be more inlcined to comes to games after graduating.

Maybe packing might not be the best word, but there are a few schools in our conference that have no problem getting fans into the stadium. I just don't think that the move is going to boast attendance as much as people think. Hell we just beat a top 25 team and our stadium was still have empty.

Hey! You must sit in section 106! (No, I know they're everywhere)

Are there any available seats near any of you who like to stand and yell (something relevant, not just to hear your head rattle)? I'd love to wander by. I've been completely chased out of my seats in section 106 by unbelievably ignorant fans and their crazy annoying children. All I hear, the entire game is "Katherine... Katherine... Katherine... Katherine... Katherine...", details of their social scene, and screams for a penalty every. single. play. "Zach Line, you're killing us!" was the yell that got me out of my seat this week. I just didn't want to start that debate.

I moved to 105 this week, and sat behind a nice guy who I suspect was SMUPhil, but I'm not completely sure. I should have asked. I'd like to not be told to sit down, and be sitting next to some folks who at least had a passing understanding of the game. And not near Katherine.

The issue is when Endowment started losing cash, Turner cut everyone across board x percent...this basically eliminated the marketing budget for athletics....

So, the big hitters have been buying tickets and using those to offset low ticket sales...

The AD office isnt very creative...many on this board have tried to help or facillitate ideas, but so far no push to implement

You can always cram in section 110. RBA owns a majority of the seats, so you'll have zero resistance and be smack dab in the middle of fans who all love to cheer.

Guess I'll leave my khaki shorts at home; sorry they are so distasteful and sickening to you. :(
