I would greatly appreciate your opinion on the current state of affairs relative to that day in 2007. Now, we spend money on good coaching and quality staff, but the advertising expense is far less than everyone desires. Thoughts?
No please no
He is the 2007 version of Otter

My opinion isn't worth the bandwidth it would take to post it. But thanks for asking.

Dutch - you poor stupid [deleted]. I'll come to your pathetic dirty little bar and have a drink with yyou if you're that lonely. I'm sorry that nobody goes there and you have WAAY too much time to troll the boards.
You are a [deleted].
I've heard from his mouth and others in the administration that it is a priority. (2ndandlong on Orsini's commitment to SMU ticket sales)

FYI, Otter, everyone goes to Dutch's bars. They are home of the Mustang fans for away games, which clearly would not include you.

Otter - I'm curious - what's your affiliation to SMU? How long have you been a fan?
Just curious.

hmmm. poster above yours seems to agree with me, along with...everyone else on here. but what do i know.
I'm neither poor, nor stupid. thanks for playing though. i can substantiate that with material evidence if you'd like to actually meet. I will be at my pathetic dirty little bar on Saturday to watch MY Mustangs play USM. you coming? i'll buy all your drinks & food.
in terms of nobody going there, i have the sales numbers to back that up too.
I have time to "troll" the boards because i have made wise decisions with my time and money and i am able to be on here more than just 8-9am and after 5:00 like you b/c your boss from UNT has set up monitoring software on your work computer.

CallenStang --
Long time fan -- first time poster. Lived in Dallas pretty much all of my life, with a short stint in the northeast for grad school and lived in HP for past 15 years.
I'm a proud grad who understands where we should be in terms of marketing and relevance.
Seen very serious guys with significant collegiate marketing credentials approach Orsini with the offer to help at no cost to SMU. Orsini's direct quote ... "It's not really a priority at this time." So, you could say that I am less patient than most on this board with the ridiculous level of indifference and incompetence in this area.
I've heard from his mouth and others in the administration that it is a priority. (2ndandlong on Orsini's commitment to SMU ticket sales)

Short Term gimmicks to put butts in seats –
legend: $ less than $1k, $$ $1k to $5K, $$$ more than $5k
i less than 1k tickets impact per game, ii 1 to 3 impact, iii more than 3k impact
1. 2fer. All ticket holders get to bring a friend for free, $, fast implementation, iii
2. Create a second SMU freshman cheer squad (the crazies) to clear the Boulevard from 30 minutes up to 5 minutes before game time, $, Fast implementation, ii
3. Post multiple SMU billboards in all the N. Dallas suburbs encouraging alums to experience the Boulevard and home schedule, $$$, Long implementation, ii
4. TV commercials linking SMU to Dallas and vice versa, thanks Thad, $$$, Medium implementation, iii
5. Free entry after half time, $, fast implementation, i
6. Put pressure (simple letter from Turner, Steve or June would do) on fraternity and sorority presidents to fully participate. Create awards for group with best attendance plus best game sign. Announce winner at start of 4th Q, $, Fast implementation, i
7. Create a social media lblitz for all alums to participate the days before game, all ponyfans should upload a peruna logo on facebook, twitter, linkedin , post status to attend game, create email string to send to 5 friends to guarantee SMU win, $, fast implementation, i
8. Encourage all alums to wear SMU gear to gym or work, hang SMU signs, decorate office/cube and get new window sticker for car, $, fast implementation, i
9. Encourage all ponyfans to display gameday signs in yards. Essentially this is the “Fill Ford” signs but more wide spread , $$, Medium implementation, i
10. Make licensing easy to encourage SMU merchandise at more places, $$, Long implementation, i
11. General Admission ticket sales from multiple vendors walking the Boulevard, $$, Medium implementation time, i
Long Term
1. Keep winning, iii
2. Top 25 for 2 years in row, iii
3. Get to BCS conference, iii
4. Schedule top non conference home games (Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Arkansas, Ohio State, Texas A&M), iii
Frisco, Thank you for your suggestions. I think a lot of your ideas have merit and could be done rather inexpensively. Getting the word out would be expensive.

Scott Feldman was just wearing a SMU hat on Channel 8 sports. Maybe that will help.
