Don't think I said we were screwed. Just that its not done. Period. I agree all signs are pointing to us headed to the Big East. But how many people were 100% convinced UT, OU, OSU, and Tech were headed to the PAC a year ago? The way I understand it things fell apart at the last minute. so this is the last straw for me on ESPN as far as a jounalistic source of information. They do not care about facts and just advocate an agenda. I'd be ok about it if they were honest that was what they were doing like say MSNBC or Fox News. ESPN is desperate to kill the BE because the BE told them to take their low ball offer and shove it up their [Garry Patterson]. Why do you think they told the Acc to poach the 2nd best football program and the best basketball program in the BE? They want to kill it because they don't want to allow it to possibly defect to NBC Universal

Why wouldn't we get in now if the BE is expanding? Who is taking our place? UH doesn't need/want a travel partner? The BE going away? The answer to all these questions is nothing has changed. ESPN is a victim of what they created, a 24 hour sports news cycle. So now they put out a bunch of crappy shows and talking heads everywhere spouting whatever they want. Because Andy Katz says something, really it means something? Give me a freaking break. If Andy Katz has that much sway, we all should be abandoning college athletics.

Yep. And that's one of the many reasons many believe the BE will maintain its AQ status. Because of the comments made from one of the ACC ADs (sorry can't remember who) saying as much. Monster potential lawsuit for the BCS.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying I believe that alone will factor in to any AQ status the BE would hold or that they would even have a case. Just passing along what others have written in articles.

In addition to all of the above at the end of his article he says if Louisville and WV leave the Big East will have a hard time replacing them with quality basketball programs. The fallacy there is Memphis and Temple will still be available and if they are good enough now they should be good enough then.

I have always felt that ESPN's (and ABC's) goal has been to relegate all but the largest tv draws to total obscurity. The Longhorn Network and their deplorable treatment of the Big East is part of their attempt to control the story line of collegs sports to suit their bottom lines. No, ESPN had no journalistic credibility anymore. Did you notice how visibly irritated the game day crew was with the SMU fans who were outside the Cotton Bowl on UT/OU day? Chris Fowler is nothing but a shill for the BCS system everyone else be damned. He is a condescending twerp.

UCONN was a nothing team when it got invited to the Big East. I remember UCONN basketball was so bad , they didn't play St. John's at Madison Square Garden then. So UCONN proves that a school can quickly become an elite team overnight.
St. John's was terrible the last decade and they got Steve Lavin and just like that they are relavent again.

It would be nice if schools commited to play in a league for the long term. Teams should sign an agreement to play at least 10 years in a league, then you'd get stability. Exit fees won't deter football schools from leaving.

Its really annoying West Virginia and Louisville wanna leave the BE. The BE made those 2 schools better and they show no loyalty. Stick around WV and Louisville and make something of the BE. The BE gave you a chance and why not return the favor ?
