Mostly, I think. But they do have some pull and can even threaten to leave if they feel that strongly about it.

In the state of KY basketball swings a big (Gary Patterson). I'm sure RP is thinking, "Do I want to trade exposure in Manhattan, NY for exposure in Manhattan, KS?" and "What's better for recruiting, playing in Waco or Washington, DC?" Don't know if he can carry the day, but he has a better shot there than at other schools.
