These are 17-21 year old kids...they need motivation and emotion to play college ball. This isn't Pro football. The players have a responsibility, but the coaches need to 'coach', whether it be football related or life related. Sometimes you need a change in attitude to break out of a funk, which they apparently were in. The same approach sometimes just doesn't always get through to the kids....you have to be able to adapt as a coach, just as you would as a parent.
Does JJ adapt?...we have to question that.

Not happening, JJ is as stubborn as a mule.

I think it's obvious that it falls on both the coaches and the players. Tulsa was prepared for everything we showed them, but we seemed to be unprepared for both their offense and their defense. I called "draw" 5 seconds before every 3rd and long where we just handed it off to Line, who never made it. They knew what we were gonna do. That, coupled with a bunch of players sleepwalking through game, gets you 38-7 when both teams should have been competitive.
If you listened to JJ at half, he sounded that same monotone, blah, blah, blah. I knew right then in there that he wasn't going into that locker room to fire them up. We actually did better than I thought coming right out of halftime, but it was no where near enough. Ugly game.

The college game is ALL about emotions being directed correctly.

Honestly how many times do you think teams say that about us after a game ? Not often i don't think.

Adding to what I said earlier, I'm not advocating that we get rid of JJ, like the OP. I just think someone needs to light a fire under our team. It is obvious that JJ McD is checked out. I don't know if that's reversible or not, but there needs to be some kind of change made there. Somebody PLEASE LIGHT A SPARK!!!

Even the game day announcers were saying that JJ always has a tendency to run on second down after an incomplete first down pass. And guess what?....they did, and Line was tackled by two defenders for a loss. It happened several times...keep em honest, but really?

No, so far I would say just the last 2. I remarked during the USM game that they were ready for us. Then, right before this game started, I thought to myself--I wonder if Tulsa has JJ figured out. Are we getting stale? I was right. But on top of that, we played uninspired.

June Jones and staff is the reason I have tickets to SMU home games and talk SMU on twitter and facebook. June Jones is the reason I've invited family and friends to go to games. Jones has made SMU football worth talking about once again. At least that's the way I feel. I'm excited. I see SMU becoming GREAT once again. And, June Jones is the reason.

I'm amazed at the attitude! If Coach Jones leaves SMU you might as well get ready for those fabulous football years we had before Jones. I can remember coming to games only to see the band march.

Jones will be a hot commodity after the last game. Say we finish 8-4 and get another bowl bid, guess what happens? Football coaches get fired and others get hired. Think Jones would be interested in UCLA? Arizona? Maybe Oregon St? I think yes.
