Some of you guys might get your wish next year. Jones could go to UCLA and we'll get another 'good' coach, perhaps as good as Phil Bennett. Lets face it we need someone better than just a good coach. SMU has been at the very football bottom for somewhere around 20 years. Coaches that are good elsewhere will fail at SMU. With Jones we've had almost instant success. I can guarantee you 70% of the American football fans look at SMU as a football joke. However, before Jones it was more like 95%. Think I'm wrong? Go to work Monday and ask everyone what they think of SMU? What about recruits. Until Coach Jones we couldn't get close enough to a four star player to say 'howdy'. Now we have them coming out to visit our campus. You'd better start supporting Jones or he'll be gone.

True, JPE. For a change, when I wear an SMU polo when traveling, I actually have people who ask about the school and complimented us beating TCU this season. That NEVER happened under Bennett, mainly because we rarely won, but also because no one noticed us.

UCLA can not pay the big $$$ required to hire a top level coach as they are constrained by the Peoples Republic of California.

JJ is not taking a pay cut to go to a pressure cooker like UCLA!

Watching Luck and Barkley tonight showed how truly minor league SMU is in the QB department

And watching #13 sub in for the Trojan D showed what a few scholarship losses can do to you. But JJ McD would never be able to capitalize on something like that because he can't pit the ball on the money right now. He needs 72 hours in TJ with some Song Girls to get right

I guess USC's out to. How about Miami, Florida, Tennessee, Nebraska...I'll bet someone will try to get him from us. Guys, my point is that Jones is not the problem. He is the solution. He just needs a little more time to bring in better recruits and build a winning attitude and tradition. We need to give him the support he needs. Most everyone on this board knows that to be true. However, some of us need to relax a little more and let Jones do his thing. PONY UP!

Agree. So many people want him to be what he's not when what he is has returned SMU from the graveyard.

USC is a PRIVATE University and is not beholden to the financial restrictions of BIG BROTHER.

But USC is going to be sticking with The Lanesta at least until the Scholie Restrictions are finished. No point in replacing him with someone else to suffer the inevitable downturn coming soon to socal.

June just needs to keep recruiting well and SMU will be fine.

Tonight's USC-Stanford game featured 2 quality QBs. It also featured 2 outstanding OLs. Did you hear the stat -- Luck had been sacked as many times tonight (2) as he had the previous games together (2). [deleted] -- 4 sacks the entire year????I could throw for 4000 yards with that protection. It aint all QB. Line play, smart receivers running the right routes and catching the friggin ball helps. Play calling is also integral toward success. Jones' play calling at times is plain ugly and predictable.

This thread should be renamed: "This is my knee-jerk reaction."
