No worries I didnt take it personally, I'm just curious about Garrett Gilbert situation since we desperately need a QB. However no offense to her, I personally hate DMN and channel 8. DMN = bevo corporation. Channel 8 = destructors of dynasties (Personal agenda to go after SMU in 80s rather than all the other schools and going after Carroll HS). We need a media outlet that focuses on Dallas, professional sports and its only college football school SMU not Big 12. Fort worth did well to cover its school. TCU also has its own radio station. We have only gametime coverage on 1310 but they wont mention a word about it later. We need an actual all the time or most of the time radio. These are simple branding methods that SMU needs to implement. Also we need to have store carry SMU stuff. Bookstore and the store across 75 does not count as complete coverage.

I agree but who the hell wants to follow Tarrant County University, if we want to get into the SEC then we have to demand better and more media coverage

i will get on that in the morning. great suggestion.

Given your long (12 months) history with SMU football, you're probably not overly familiar with the DMN coverage we were receiving several years ago. We were lucky to have a box score in there, much less any feature articles. Our coverage has increased exponentially in the time JJ has been here.

Well I havent seen anything in the DMN. All we get is a side blog accompanied with all the Big 12 texas teams. I mean in Austin all they talk about is UT, in Waco all about Baylor, Ft Worth all about TCU, Lubbock all about tech. Dallas: 10% SMU 90% (60% UT 30% AM, 10% everything else). I mean we have no media outlet. All we have is Kate, which is great but she needs like an SMU department or something so we can build Dallas' team.

SMU will NEVER dominate local coverage. EVER. The main reason being that we're not the only show in town.

You can't compare small markets like these to major city media:

Austin - No pro sports teams.
Waco - Same
BCS - Same
FW - Same, but you'll also see some Dallas teams mixed in. Plus they've been a legit BCS team the last few years.

They're the only show in town!

We have more than Kate. She probably writes half the SMU content.

When the state of Texas is divided by three BCS Conferences (SEC, Big XII, and Big East), if we continue to win, I hope our press coverage will increase. It seems like SMU is getting more press now. How much did SMU get doing the Pony Express era?

I agree completely with you. I'm Kate is a nice girl but we need more coverage

i'd rather than hold off coverage until we have something positive to talk about...
