Re: BOULEVARD
I still confused after reading all of this. I would love to come meet my new friends on PONYFANS.COM and perhaps have a beer before the game. But, someone needs to organize the Boulevard events. Comments from long respected members on this thread suggest the same. As an idea. Put all of the 'school' tents together. Put the public pay tents together. Have the private tents together with whatever message they want to give to the public. Have some contests like who has the wildest costume/face paint for the game with a parade around with all contestants. Students who play guitars have a 'playoff', etc. By the way, to get students to the game you need more creative thinking. Put on a 'concert' after the game. Have drawings for prizes for the students. Give away Mustang towels or T-shirts, etc. Just a thought. If you don't like these perhaps you have better thoughts. But, I would love to see SMU have packed stadium games and even more great fun on game day afternoons.

All great ideas, but instead of "they need to do this, they need to do that". Just Do It!
We and other Blvd spot owners pay our hundreds of dollars every single year for our Blvd spot, spend hundreds every home game for food/beer/sodas/snacks/candy and do our individual parts in making the Smu game day an enjoyable experience for all who stop by. If people did less of "they need to" or "someone needs to" and just actually did something themselves we might make the Blvd an even more special place. For a few years there was a guy that just gave out Smu cowbells. There was a guy that gave out Smu t-shirts. Last year and this year we bought and handed out Smu pom-poms to kids. We bought and gave out red/blue Hawaii leis the year we went to the Hawaii bowl. We cant always wait for the administration to do everything, grab an idea and make it happen yourself. Go Mustangs!

Blvd is a self-generated event. We provide the atmosphere and the energy and do not rely on others to entertain us. There are plenty of vendors around. Become part of the community. Make friends with a stranger. It's what separates us from an NBA game and chuck e cheese.
Re: BOULEVARD
That's great guys. Like I said to start. I don't understand the Boulevard. I was just trying to think of ways to put butts in seats and make it so guys like me want to make a day of it by going to the boulevard. I'm a long time SMU fan. But, I don't want to ruin things for you. Enjoy.

Not sure how you got the idea that you were ruining anything. Everyone here has explained how inviting the atmosphere is. Take advantage and enjoy! Bring your friends! I am in front of Maguire, with some other sweet PonyFans next to Cox. 30 yards north of us is food and drinks for sale by the flagpole. At Binkley there is food and drink for sale from MC and alumni tent. You won't ruin anything by wandering around and making new acquaintances.

Re: BOULEVARD
This winning stuff is starting to show results. Now we are bickering over how to improve our pre game party atmosphere.
I remember a time when just finding someone you knew and a hotdog was an accomplishment.
Will be rolling in about an hour. Can't wait to see all and pull for the Ponies.
