Nope, SMU has not been top 25 since the 80's. That is true, and it is an ugly reality. But, what I said about Tulsa is also reality. Lucky for SMU, it at least has a strong football history and tradition, even though the memories may be fading. It is also well-known in the Northeast, has academic prestige and is positioned for a return to prominence. Tulsa just can never be what SMU can. That's just reality. Sorry.

One of the [deleted] you paid has been ripping on SMU everychance he has had on national TV for as long as I can remember.
Since when is well known by a bunch of Yankees who would rather watch Penn State/Syracuse over SEC/Big 12 football a good thing?

Tulsa isnt going to make the cut. You should start making alternative plans.
We might not either but at least we are about to be thrown a life line for a few years. Lets see if we can make something out of our chance.

Well, I think you know what I'm saying is true. Maybe y'all could change your name to Oklahoma Tech or something and your team name as well, because being stuck with the name "Tulsa" or "Golden Hurricane" gets you relegated to no-one-cares-land as far as the rest of the country is concerned. I'll believe SMU to the Big East when I finally see it, but I do recognize that SMU has the potential and a lot going for it when it comes to being picked up by an AQ conference. Whether you'll admit all of these truths is a different story, but you know it to be true nonetheless. And that's all I'm gonna say about that...brah.

Im sure there were lots of people ten years ago that thought a d2 school in Boise would be a dominate player on the scene.
