I mean hire those guys at The Richards Group to come up with advertising strategy. I mean we need all the exposure we can get. Im thinking just buying up some billboards along highways and congested roads and just say come enjoy family fun game with your local College Football team. Tickets start at 10 bucks or something.
We had a marketing department. Attendance was lower than it is now. We decided to spend that money on a good AD, a good football coach, and a good basketball coach. We are now winning some games. I'll take the winning.
Also, our athletic department is operating at a loss. We will not spend any money on marketing until we are self sufficient. SO has done an awesome job moving us in the right direction here, and the BE move should be enough to bring us back to the black alone. Marketing will return when we have the money.

Yeah I agree with everything you just said. Winning beats the hell out of few thousand more fans. Hopefully the BE does pan out the way we want. I just wish the campus would let them know, so if we want we can start an organization and try to collect money to rent out some billboards.

They have to be something reasonable with all the crap that the put on there.
You do realize that people on this board pitched in to buy billboards for a couple of games already this year right?
Where are they? I want to go and drive by it. Im guessing it isnt by 75? I hate having to look at NTCC.[/quote] it was on 75 but not anymore.

We should have a respectable crowd for Navy...thanks to heavy interest in the visitors. The encouraging thing in looking at these numbers is that we show 20k or more for every game so far this year. Rice on a holiday weekend will break that streak...should be busy giving away tickets right now for that one. Advertise deals where one adult ticket will get as many as 5 kids in free. Offer school age kids $1 tickets (I remember going to see us play UT-Chattanooga in hoops years ago and was pleasantly surprised to learn I only had to pay $1 each for the kids) Do something...anything...to get some butts in the seats for that game or it could be another classic 6k for Rice game.
We are what we are attendance wise...but it's getting better and I think as student interest improves, alumni interest will also increase and eventually there is no reason we can't attract closer to 20-25k of our own for most games. As JJ pointed out, applications were WAY UP the year after we won the Hawaii Bowl. As more incoming students have an interest in athletics, things will steadily improve. We just have to have realistic expectations because we only have so many students and alumni in the area and just haven't gained the interest of the casual DFW area sports fan yet.
