Michigan, Purdue?..forgetaboutit----Playing a MAC team may give us a win and having a 2-1 record in bowl games for the last 3 years is good stuff. At the end of the day just saying SMU went to 3 consecutive bowls and won 2 will work it for me. No one watches most of the second rate bowl games anyway.

Agreed. Beating a team senselessly would be better for us in new recruits eyes rather than being beaten to death by a weaker AQ team. I mean one of the reasons to pull for ticketcity is so we dont have the opportunity to lose to a weak non-AQ team... that would be horrible for recruiting and fans to know that we are going AQ when we can even take care of business against weak non-AQ teams.... its kind of a lose lose situation unless the starters figure out how to play or if Jones play the new kids on the block and they turn out to be awesome.

Until I see the fire and enthusiasm that this team really wants to win I am for either the AFB or Ticket city bowl. At this point these players have not earned the right to a 'nice vacation' in Fla., NO or Hawaii. IMO many of the seniors have quit on the fans and therefore let them stay home.
Sorry for the rant but I am p!&&ed at the attitude displayed these last few games.

GO PONIES!!!

Yep, I think the bowl game should be for the loyal fans that do come out, since they never give up on cheering. Even when we were losing to navy, I was out in the student section and enjoying the band playing and yelling out (losing my voice later on). Wish they had more RnB yells going out.

Wouldn't the Armed Forces Bowl allow the SMU athletic department to "net" more money
due to greatly reduced travel costs? I've heard some teams barely break even when they
add in travel costs of flying/hotels for teams, bands, cheerleaders, staff, ect...to bowl games.
If we are going to be in some 2nd or 3rd tier bowl I say why not just have another home game?
Yep....my vote is for Ford Stadium as the lesser of 2-3 evils.

I could be wrong but it is my understanding that CUSA pays expenses, and the bowl money from all CUSA bowl games is split evenly. So it does not matter which bowl any school participates in, the "take" for each school will be the same.

Does it get split evenly to all the schools including the schools that didnt even make it to a bowl game? I guess they do this to get every school a chance for successful program and not kill people that dont make it and already have low budgets. If we win our bowl, what do you think they will do with the money. Obviously not build a bigger screen...

I think it is evenly among all schools but there are those on this site that know the ins and outs much better than I.

I cant imagine it not making any difference whatsoever to the bottom line traveling/housing
all those people but if that's true I still prefer another home game unless it's a bowl that matters.
Why have a few hundred SMU fans in New Orleans when we can have thousands at Ford and
another Blvd?

Obviously I would like either of the Dallas Bowls or New Orleans. They are all road trips for me, but these I could make. But I am still one that believes the game is a reward for the kids more so than the fans. If we consistently filled Ford we would have a fan base that would travel well anywhere. It is hard to justify a local bowl game just for the fans when we cannot even fill our stadium for a home game. I think it would be unfair to the many seniors to ask them to spend 2 years in a row in Dallas for their Bowl game. They could have a good time in NO and still be an easy trip for fans. Hawaii would be even better for the kids and I would be jealous that once again I could not make it.

Nobody cares what friggin silly bowl game you play in anyway...Weedeater Bowl, Beef O'Brady Bowl?...C'mon HS recruits don't know or care unless its a big game. Its all window dressing. Just win the game and then we don't have tell recruits we went to a Bowl game, but we didn't win. To hell with it, make it a fun trip for fans and players and have fun. We will NOT be competitive with even a lower Big 10 team I can assure you....all you guys on here crack me up complaining we can't even win a CUSA schedule and fire Jone Jones and you think its a good idea to play a game we won't match up well in?......give us a another year with depth and size....

It looks like according to them: Hawaii Bowl (irregardless of Hawaii) and if we pull off a miracle and beat Houston then AFB
