Warning, not a lawyer, so this may be stupid:

If you put pads on the wall, aren't you then acknowledging that the hill is for rolling and making it a MORE attractice nusance? You're going from "yes, it's a grass hill for sitting on to watch the game, just like any other hill in the world" to "yes, it's a grass hill for rolling down into these crash pads at the bottom"?

Don't get me wrong, i'm sure that it is LOADS of fun to roll down/play on the hill. i used to do it when i was a kid (maybe that explains things). i guess my point is why not sit in your seats (stands might look more full if we weren't all at the fun-zone), it might give you an opportunity to create a new Mustang fan who understands the game rather than another SMU legacy kid who's idea of going to a football game is all about the event surrounding the field, rather than the game on the field.

and my son sits with me & my wife, and she does most of the work and i still only get to see about 2/3rds of the game b/c he's a constant distraction. if your kids are being watched closely, the team isn't getting the support it should.

teach them to be fans of the game, not the event.

and don't take ANY parenting advice from me. i refuse it from others. i'm merely suggesting what I would do. you're free to do whatever the hell you want with your kids.

Thanks smart guy....my point was he isn't letting them be kids. It sounds like he's trying to make them adults before their time. But like he said, don't listen to me, I don't listen to anyone else about my own either. I guess I should have put KIDS in all caps so Eddie could understand.

Dutch has a damn bounce house at the tailgate for his kid. When he's at the boulevard, it's fine to jump around like a little monkey and get all of his energy out. But, when you go to something important, like church or an SMU football game, sit still and pay attention.

Now that's funny.

During the many lulls in the game, our group gets a kick out of watching the kids fling themselves down the hill at 100 mph.
It's the closest thing we have to a gameday atmosphere some weeks...lol

If the school is really concerned about Kids (goats?) sliding on the hill, they could always spell out SMU or Mustangs in the ground using rock or another material. Scooting over that, or a course ground cover shaped word isn't so much fun.

I think the solution here isn't more padding. It's stop having kids!!
