Believe it or not, there aren't exactly an enormous number of people who came out of the crib cheering for smu. Slightly different situation in sec country.

Spot on - my buddy is from shreveport - he follows SMU but it LSU first for him. At least he went to grad school there.

You have got to be kidding me.

SMU produces a lot of big time winners. Most big time winners will tell you not to associate with losers. We are long time losers. Just us crazies and weirdos left.

It's his secret plan...he is loyal to SMU, so he is pawning JJ on ASU for SMU to get a "better" coach. (How's that for conspiracies [RSFan])

From ASU Rivals:

ASU booster/SMU alumnus Verde Dickey has played golf with Jones and knows him better than we first reported. Dickey was also prepared, at a minimum, to fund the buyout for Jones, and sources have told us he was prepared to additionally donate an eight figure sum to the university, perhaps as much as $50 million (this is not confirmed).

sounds like they place a pretty high value on him. at least the guys smart enough to make $50MM. who cares what the internet idiots say.

June is a good coach. we should be very happy to have him. he's done a tremendous amount for our program.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

"Formerly opened as Devil Dome and nicknamed,"The Bubble", $8.4 million practice facility broke ground on May 15, 2008[2] to provide a climate controlled space for the Sun Devil football team, Sun Devil Marching Band, ASU Intramurals and for other athletic department events. Before its full completion and turn over from the contractor to the university on the night of August 28, 2008 a powerful storm brought it down.[3] The Bubble was re-inflated early October and was fully repaired for use in July 2009. During the 2009 season the facility was renamed and dedicated to generous donor Dr. Verde Dickey as the Verde Dickey Center, to not only commemorate his donation for the facility but also his donations to Sun Devil Marching Band and projects such as renovation of locker rooms in Wells Fargo Arena and Sun Devil Stadium, Weatherup Basketball Center, The Athletes Performance Center, John Spini Gymnastics Center, and wrestling practice facility."

I bet if you asked most SMU former students who their favorite football team is they would say Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns same as Baylor until now and same as TCU until about three years ago. Some people just feel better if they pull for a succesful program that wins....in other words they are not really fans.

Maybe he got pissed off from some angle about the DP and decided to take money elsewhere-I bet there are a bunch like that. Otherwise, I could see him supporting multiple institutions like a bunch of big-time SMU donors - but what has he done for his alma mater?
