GO PONIES!!!
You guys need to get over this. If someone told you "hey, you can have a working vacation in: a) dallas b) dallas c) St. Petersburg d) Hawaii (and you either grew up there or lived there for years
where would you choose? Unless Hawaii wins and Houston loses we aint going to that bowl. Its the best deal for the team and the worst deal for the fans but the team should come first in our minds.
FYI im hoping like hell for TCB cause I will fly in for it, but if it all works out and they got to Hawaii I have no problem with it.
Bowl game is not a working vacation in that sense as they are not all the same from the work perspective. Otherwise teams would skip BCS bowls to head to hawaii.
They should be hoping to go to whatever bowl helps the program most, not which is a 'trip home'
Unless its a major bowl it is a working vacation. We have no shot at a major bowl. Also, Hawaii is arguably best for the program. It's no worse than TCB or AFB.
Very debateable which is best. If Reinebold said he wants Hawaii because it's best for the program nobody would be mad
I agree with that. But I they probably see no real difference in bowl value. TCB is at 11 am on ESPN U. Hawaii bowl kinda sucks but im sure the team would love the trip
Well it looks like uhcougars will loose unless their d can start stopping usm. I agree that jr should have/could have worded his statement differently EXCEPT that he spoke how he feels. Makes me wonder if they knew where dallas was when they took the job.
I can't wait to go to a better bowl, but we will be embarrassed when 2000-4000 fans (if we are lucky) go to an out of town bowl. That's why Hawaii is good as everyone expects it to have terrible attendance. We can barely get 17,000 to a freaking Homecoming game.
Are you people crazy? "It looks bad to have 4,000 people at an out of town bowl". How does it look to have 4,000 people at a game in your own hometown? Our fan support is a complete embarrassment... Can you blame Reinebold or Beasley or anyone else for wanting to play out of town? If I were on this team there's no way in he!! I'd prefer a game in Dallas over a game in Hawaii. Why should they put the fans first? Most SMU students and alumni don't care about the team and don't go to games, and the rest of Dallas doesn't give a rat's @ss about us. Why should they be concerned about the 1% of us that do? I go to all the home games and some road games like a lot of you do, but I am also thoroughly embarrassed by the lack of support from alumni and students. If we can't even show up for our team's games, how can we expect the rest of Dallas to want to, and why should we expect the team to want to play here? Personally, I hope they DON'T play here. Who wants our recruits to see another game with empty stands in Dallas?
I hope you fools are not holding your breath until Jones and Reinbolt or any of the rest of the Hawaiian boys start talking and acting like you... They are Locals at heart from Hawaii not Texans or pretentious social snobs from SMU. I am sure they never intended to become or act like you. If you don't like them write a letter to Ford or go to lunch and state your silly case. I would bet if you asked them they would all love to go home but they would probably tell you they still have a job to do at SMU.
As for those who can't find something to do in Hawaii I assume you didn't have a car or cash or still had your boots on or maybe just plain losers. The rests of you drunks can find twenty night clubs that stay open until four in the morning. If you like women they are healthy beautiful and everywhere. Strip joints your thing, twenty girls each of every kind. If hookers are your thing season opens at midnight.
Now if you love the ocean, beaches, sailing, golf, hiking, surfing, windsurfing, biking, swimming, diving, football snow skiing,.... oh and some of the best weather and fresh air on the planet... everything is at your fingertips.
If you are just homesick for Dallas, SMU and all the crying and moaning... well I guess you just gotta go home where you are around others who you feel comfortable with at that little school on the hill.
So get over it.... those coaches left paradise to take on a project/job in a hick town that has an end date. When completion comes they will all be gone. Expecting them to be like you will never happen. I suggest you hire a Texan from Dallas who played for SMU during the death penalty.
