What do you think about all this, Wuba?

I think it is unbelievable that he would interview during such a big recruiting weekend and it says a lot that he insisted on the interview process with SMU being a huge secret but is willing to continue with this one after it has become very public. If that is the case.

Until Nick started posting today that he thinks klemm might not move on with June I had always thought that klemm had a ton of personal loyalty to June, so that surprised me. Of course, it was that presumed personal loyalty that he had for June that gave me some confidence that he was not going to be poached by some PAC 12 team. Nick seems to have ties to someone who sees things the same way klemm does so I put some faith in what he says.

I had not previously interpreted all of the posts that I presumed came from someone supportive of klemm as stabbing June in the back, and I am still not convinced, but I suppose it is plausible. I think they seem more like a case of someone hoping to apply pressure to drive change, not a stab.

Yep, if he met with ASU this weekend at Love Field as suggested, during this crucial weekend for us, I don't know how he could possibly explain that in a way that would cause me to respect him any longer. Don't know much about the Klemm situation, but I don't think he is ready to be captain of the SMU football ship. That said, I would hope we'd do everything within reason to keep him.

I don't think Orsini is going anywhere, FWIW. I would almost hope that if JJ stays, which I think would be the best for us RIGHT NOW, that we start looking for someone to replace him at the end of next season after this stunt.

It happens all the time, take a hard working young dynamic assistant, give him proper support and he can handle the ship and possibly grow into a loyal better coach.

Tcu cried their eyes out when francione left, they haven't cried in a long time since

Yeah, I hear you. You think Klemm is ready to take over the reigns. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'm just not sold yet on that, just based on his lack of experience and short tenure. I do hope we pull out all the stops to try to keep him, though. Maybe Asst. HC or something.

I, for one, will be sad if coach Jones leaves. I hope that he stays here and helps to establish us as a strong, steady program. But ASU has to make a splash with this hire, so if they want him, they are going to throw out some insane money.

IF he leaves, hiring one of the assistants to be our head coach would be a big mistake. We haven't established a strong enough presence coming back to be able to do that. We will need to replace Jones with another big name and make a statement that SMU is here to stay.

That is the only thing that will give us a shot at keeping our current commitments; otherwise, this year's class will be shot.

I would do what we can to keep Mason. I am sure Klemm would be part of the deal if Jones left because ASU would want those california connections. I know Morrison is loyal to June, but I would try and entice him with a true OC position and see if he sticks around.

For head coach, I would make a move for Fedora, and if that didn't work out, I would try to get the current Hawaii HC. They have been okay since June left, and that guy has a ton of recruiting connections in Texas. Sherman would also be a great fit - the problem at A&M was defense, not offense, and that wasn't his problem. He was really classy in his presser at A&M and has a good rep with players and teams in Texas. Maybe be able to get some A&M commitments along the way.

Doesn't a splash hire need to have name recognition, you can't even tell me the Hawaii head coaches name...

Grab a name, that's fine, but klemm needs to be oc or head coach in waiting or you are set back 2 years in recruiting

sherman seems destined to head back to nfl, but he would be an interesting choice...built-in Texas recruiting contacts, he also has his entire tamu staff that he could bring as well.

More than likely he will be in Jacksonville

Jacksonville doesn't pay their HC. Del Rio, at least for a while, was like close to the lowest paid coach in the NFL. SMU could probably top Jax.

Morrison was with him in Hawaii. Prior to UH, Morrison was a high school coach at Punahou HS.
