I'm a June supporter but agree that Klemm would be worth the shot...the guy works around the clock and would hire others with the same work ethic. It would not be acceptable on his staff to take your fishing pole on a "recruiting" trip.

this is going to be an interesting few weeks. funny thing is, i think we're all so desperate to be like all the big time programs that we're creating a lot of garbage that isn't really there b/c we think that's what we should be doing as an upper level (AQ next week) mid major.
good to be back.

Malzahn would be interesting...
You gotta keep klemm to lower collateral damage. Recruits have stated numerous times they go where klemm goes

Klemm wears a black sweater vest - even when it is 100 degrees.

I love Malzahn. Do not think we could ever get him, but let me warn you, whoever gets him has to take his wife also. If I could linky thingies I would show you the clip of her speaking about her life with Gus. She is a nut case.

Uh-uh. Patterson had been a D-Coordinator for 5 years. He was widely believed to be ready for HC duties.

Very true. But Memphis should not be being humiliated by Arky State and MTSU - they weren't even competitive.

Same way we couldn't compete in WAC for many years...
We have made a commitment to be a top 25 program, a bcs program.
We have a lot to offer and the right guy can make it an easy sale.
Ak has sold kids from Cali without ever visiting....think about that.
Have you been overwhelmed by jj's xs and os ability, frankly I think he isn't that great an xs and os coach, just an excellent motivator.
Surround ak with some great game coaches and then fill with other young dynamic hungry recruiters and you have something you can build a program with, not just a team

What "proven" Head coaches or coordinators are available? especially ones that recruited your own kids? Ron English at Eastern Michigan is a GREAT coach, I wanted him to take over for Lloyd Carr at Michigan, but that would mean making SMU into a smash mouth running, lights out defensive attack, IE Big Ten Style team. You guys would lose for 3 straight years in that approach before you got halfway to a Bowl game, I mean he's winning at Eastern Michigan but still, you ain't built that way. Zook can recruit and THAT's IT. I say this guy had a significant part in building the success you had, maybe the MOST significant part. I'd say give him a shot.

this is why you offer Klemm a boatload of $$$ if JJ leaves. He is uniquely worth it to SMU and if he declines, you have way ratcheted up his market value.
