after the reaction at ASU, I'd guess UCLA will not even interview him. Klemm on the other hand I very much worry about.

Does the guy really think the stands should have been packed late in the season for a team when:
1) They're in full swoon mode, w/
2) A QB that regressed by the week and no explanation on the status of the guy he replaced, while
3) The coach does absolutely squat to sell the team to the existing fans, and
4) Doesn't seem to pay any mind to antagonizing the fan base w/ stupid power plays over mascots?

I'm a proud supporter of the team and have a relative that's a starter, but the product was not so hot in the back half...in fact was really disappointing...and there were a lot of entertainment options for folks in DFW this fall (Fair, Rangers, cool games at Jerry World and Fair Park). It wouldn't hurt sales for JJ to appear to be slightly more than bored in any interview.

yes he does and I agree with him. SMU attendance is pathetic. Its the one last remaining long term rally killer that puts a ceiling on what this program can achieve

Did you read the Harvard study? Posted on another thread...confirms all our suspicions. We won't fill our stadium until we hit about 9 straight bowls and .900

The school isn't that big. Yes students should be at and stay at games. Maybe something needs to happen where parties aren't allowed once kickoff starts or in and outs are ok. My points were that he wasn't going to draw from the greater Dallas area with that stuff going on. It's just unrealistic to expect casual sports fans to be vested in something that doesn't appear to be vested in itself.

Again, with a relative as a starter I really do feel like it's more of "my" team, but can easily see where a lot of folks, even alumni, would be turned off and not have that feeling.

NO, enough with the gimicks to try to force students into the games. no one is going to do ANYTHING they don't want to do.

we have to just keep winning. it doesn't happen over night. unless we go undefeated. then it's just a flash in the pan like at UH. we'll see what their attendance is like next november.

i know that's not popular opinion, but we're the delusional faithful few on here who think that SMU is the cats pajamas. we can't understand why everyone else doesn't think the same, but it's just not the case. gotta prove we're worth it. attendance continues to increase as we continue to win.

Agree Dutch. Someone had the numbers and they've gone up each of last four years. Gotta think if they weren't losing more people would show.

No regular season attendance has actually gone down in each of the last two years-only an accounting trick by adding in the Armed Forces Bowl made it appear to go up.

Yet half-way through the season we were 4-1, just dominated TCU for 3/4 of a game, about to rock the defending conference champs and the stadium was incredibly empty. The attendance woes really dont have much to do with our sub-par play on the field, they were sub-par while the team was looking the best it ever had since the 80s.
