Of course, I didn't think about their ability to get tickets to the game when I wrote that. But it is a shame, with all the social media out, that SMU couldn't let students know immediately when our destination was known, that there would be buses they could ride to the game and back (kind of like Red & Blue Army was talking about). This would, hopefully, help students find fellow students who love going to SMU football games and help them make some new friends.
The particularly problematic part for the sorority women is the fact that they get back a full week early to do rush workshops leading up to recruitment week

Fraternities are basically not allowed to take freshmen anywhere w/o permission...and as good an idea as that is I can promise you that the student life office and the Greek coordinator would say no, they practically live to say no

Turner needs to step in and "encourage" the Greek community to support the team, IMHO.

Honestly, they wouldn't go even if rush was two weeks later

If we donated busses stocked with beer and blow, they would go. Short of that, they're not interested.

From what I hear, this sounds like the old Texas Stadium days

Cute when people [deleted] about a group of students that make up about 35% of an undergrad population that is about 6500. Yep, that's the silver bullet. If only those darn Greeks came to the game, everything would be sunshine and lollipops.

I for one am [deleted] about the whole lot of the student body. So, let's hear the non-Greek excuses and ill [deleted] about those too.

What we need aren't the Greeks, it's the b-school Asians, the Mexicans and the Cali bros to show up. But then again they all only know about soccer and longboarding so who needs em.

Current greek-- I'll be at the game with at least 8-10 others from my fraternity. Rush week isn't a factor, hell I'm going with the IFC president. But a lot of people aren't interested. Rome wasn't built in a day, and people aren't excited about the way we ended the season. Even if every undergrad goes, that's only 6500 in a stadium that seats 71k. I know student attendance is an issue, but we have much better attendance per capita than alumni, which is not a point i see made very often on this board.
Most guys in my fraternity who live within reasonable driving distance (>10 hrs) are planning to go to Birmingham. It is the commuter students/GDI's that largely don't attend the athletic events

The SMU greek system is run by Nazis. Fraternities are lucky to throw a party, much less take a bus somewhere.
