We also have alums that support Arizona State and LSU without even a thought of SMU. Some even enough to try and mess up our program by attempting to get our football coach.

He only came here because OU didn't recruit him. Today, he is still a big OU fan and I haven't seen him at Ford Stadium once.
I don't like your friend

Wow. That's pathetic. I'm interested in learning more about this.

ASU booster that was pushing for June was an SMU grad. It is in a thread called something like the problem with SMU alums. LSU booster had given major amounts of money to LSU and is an SMU grad. I will try to find the link. Also, an SMU grad was owns the coaching search firm that ASU used to try to get June. I will try to find the thread.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of this. It just boggles the mind.

On the other hand, you have SMU fans that played at other schools. (I played elsewhere but have a Masters from SMU). Someone had a good idea on this board and I have already used it on my 'Facebook' page. That is - ask others (particularly Dallas area friends)to support their favorite team and SMU (THE DALLAS TEAM). Someone from Texas A&M, for example, may not be able to go to Georgia for a game, but might enjoy SMU and Navy at Ford on that same day.

That is kind of what TCU did in Fort Worth.

I got a sweet "your city, your team" towel at the basketball game last night. Let's keep that movement going!

Sorry to say but that friend of yours doesn't seem to have any loyalty to the school that paid for his education. He can keep on rooting for OU.
You can make an analogy that most students also may only want to go to schools ranked in the top 10-15 nationally. We all know that not every student can get into those schools. But if students behaved the same way your friend has then there would be no loyalty whatsover in most college programs. He should get over it and be thankful for the opportunity to have played football at SMU and to have received that education, which I'm assuming was paid for by his scholarship.
I am not defending him, and I don't know the full story, but I seem to remember that after the DP he felt that he and d some of the other lettermen were regularly snubbed by the athletic department when they tried to be supportive of the program. It was a toxic situation at the time.
