Your theory is a moving target.

He's not the only QB out there for 2013.

Zac Allen at Temple, Chris Swoopes in Whiteright (big-time recruit), Chris Johnson at Bryan, Kenny Hill at SL Carroll.

For kids to commit more than a year before national signing day is pretty silly unless they are a legacy with a particular program.

If the coaching staff would TAKE THE TIME to evaluate the QBs in Texas instead of running all over the country, they could save themselves the aggravation.

Morrison checks out all the QB's plus the ones that come to camp. They know the local QB's but Jones is real particular about who he offers. Example is the year we offered Kaiser we also offered Scotty Young early. They know about them but really don't offer that position early except in cases like this. The year we offered Pardon we did not offer Drew Allen (from Texas) who came to the SMU camp and wanted an offer but ended up gong to Oklahoma. We do look at Texas QB's but the positions so important that they do not limit themselves to that.

With the coaching staff we have now and our move to the BE we should draw a number of great prospects at qb, starting with the lineup we now have and have committed. SMU is making some great moves for a fantastic future.

How's that track record been working out?

Padron (Texas recruit) did pretty good for a while. In case you did not notice we are getting a Texas QB in Gilbert. Also, McDermott and Bo Levi Mitchell were Texas QB's. So the area in which we get our QB's may not be the issue. The issue might be the run and shoot system especially if Gilbert does not do well.

That's fair

QB is usually the first position off the board. A high percentage of the Top QBs in the 2013 Class will be off the Board in 3 months. You need to offer your QB target early

I guess since I have thought about it all the SMU starting QB's have been from Texas. But it will definitely be interesting to see if Gilbert can make this thing go. Can't wait for Gilbert to get on campus.

Pretty soon we will be posting and complaining about commitments from 8th graders.

Printz is still in the hunt for SMU, so keep the faith. Eddie SR and JR are still interested in DFW and SMU, and the SMU coaches haven't relaxed.

At this point, we look much stronger at qb then we do at most other positions. I'm looking forward to see who wins the battle for starting qb on next year's squad. Others have been mentioned above, but don't overlook Burcham. I like what I've heard about him too.
