Good track record? Regarding QBs? At SMU? Please, elucidate.

Mexmustang, i Know you are a big WSU, UW and OSU fan...but how do you know the QB offers they have out? You cant tell just by looking at a teams offer list...do you know how many times Armen has put up a story on Rivals about a new offer that wasn't reflected on the SMU outstanding offer list? Just saying.

With that being said, I am not a qb guru, but watching film on Kolney, the very first thing that stands out is how super quick his release is....an important quality in the R + S offense...something Padron lacked..

Quick release and accuracy are the qualities June looks for.

For what it's worth, I keep hearing good things about Cassel. I talked (via e-mail) with a guy who has seen him play several times, who described his arm strength and accuracy as "amazing" and said if he were near a big city (Seattle, Portland, etc.) he would have "tons more media exposure." The reporter said he has been covering high school football around Washington for more than 20 years and said Cassel is definitely among the top three quarterbacks he has seen, and said he is a vastly underrated athlete.

I also traded notes with Cassel, who said he was told "BYU was going to offer me the week I committed and WSU (Washington State) was saying they would offer me this month but I just decided SMU is my place and made my commitment...", adding that despite the attention from other schools, "there's no way I'm going anywhere else but SMU ..."

Apparently the University of Washington also showed ample interest, but Cassel didn't mention an official offer from the Huskies.

I think Cassel will be a good player. Didn't he win MVP at a camp? If so he got some exposure. As far as schools about to offer, you can take that with a grain of salt. Until they actually offer it means nothing. I like the fact that Chirs Miller likes Cassel but I also like the fact that Trent Dilfer likes Burcham. Should be an interesting battle after Gilbert leaves.

He got honorable mention at Army All American combine and was listed as a top performer at Badger 7 on 7 in Vegas.

Been expecting this one, we need 2 QBs for the 2013 class.

Looks like SMU is one hit away from a RS freshman at QB.

These kids have never taken a snap and want to transfer.... at least pretend to compete.

I guess he saw the writing on the wall. I wish him the best wherever he goes.
