Stephen Kaiser Transferring?

Missouri State fan here. I am happy to hear about Stephen's transfer because we are in desperate need for a QB. Our starter, who was a stud, was just kicked off for violating team policy and has left us is big hole very close to the season. Stephen will have to beat out a pretty good sophomore, but other than that, he should be good to go.

Our coaching staff is in a MUST win situation this year if they are to keep their jobs so Steve will be given every opportunity to see the field.

Does anyone know if he is considered a sophomore or a junior at this point?

Best of luck to the Mustangs this year. I'm a big fan of your coaching staff and have alot of respect for your program.

He sat out almost his entire redshirt year because a nasty fight mono. It seems to have really set him back here. Here is hoping he turns out better for you guys. He should as we are the kings of developing fcs qbs.

You guys have posted a lot of good ideas about attendance here. I especially liked the post by H-E-B Mustang. He and I must have a lot in common, both living in Bedford and remembering the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl so well. It was a great game.

Jones booted Hawaii's best player, a RB, off the team immediately when he arrived there. I'm sure Willis was a similar vulgar display of power, only this one backfired.

Yeah Willis made such a difference the year before when he was the starter!

Do I have to pull the stats again? Rusty Burns offense thar year was comperable to the year before AND to June's offenses. The defense fell apart in Willis' last year not the offense. If he had the benefit of Mason things may have turned out very differently

Edit: I did pull the stats. See other thread. Willis and the last rusty Burns year blew away all of June's years. You think using a true freshman over an experienced and highly successful QB was not a mistake?

The moral of the Justin Willis and Kyle Padron stories is... Don't get in June's doghouse. If he'll bench our (arguably) best player since the Death Penalty (Emmanual Sanders), he has no qualms sitting anyone who breaks the team rules.

My long held contention is that June has basically made two major mistakes since he's been here:
1) not modifying his offense in year 1 to accommodate Justin Willis. In year two, he adjusted, added more emphasis on the run to suit his personnel, and was much more successful.
2) being too loyal to his pal Leigh Steinberg.

Furthermore IPP, don't give me the mythology garbage about June's offense. Our offense is very very different from June's offense in Hawaii and both are different from the June/Mouse offenses before. He could have easily modified to use Willis.

Willis was canned to make a point and it backfired. We are still feeling the consequences.

Wasn't Willis suspended from the team in 06 for fighting and in February when June arrived?

yes and yes
He was suspended and missed spring practice
His suspension was related to academic concerns & missing team functions.
Justin Willis was not our future
June was eager to move towards the future eventhough he knew there would be growing pains
and June's vision has produced three straight bowl games
how many did Rusty Burns produce at smu?

Justin was as close to a program savior as we had seen in 25 years. Not our future...as if better offers presented themselves!

Willis/Sanders were fun to watch and we were at least finally competitive in those years, but this is ancient history now.

This thread is about Kaiser and I think it was pretty clear he was never going to get any significant playing time here. Best of luck to him and I hope both he and Padron enjoy the rest of their college football experience the same way McCown, Sanders and Mitchell were able to. If you want to be "the guy", play at a level you can find success

Good luck in the Midwest, Steve. Hope you enjoy your new school and being closer to your family.

Players, especially quarterbacks, are competitive guys, so it's not unusual for quarterbacks to transfer in an effort to find a place to play. Let's wish Steve well and move on.

June hasn't been right on a QB here yet, odd since QBs are his specialty. How many more can he miss on and still be considered a QB guru?

Here's a few other high school recuits he missed on that transfered out of Hawaii during is tenure. Never to be seen again.

Taylor Humphrey
Brandon Satcher
