I repeat: YOu guys do NOT understand Arkansas Razorback football! I say that being a die-hard SMU fan from Arkansas for almost 60 yrs now. It is a religion in this state! TCU football is scrawny compared to Razorback land. A winning Arkansas coach is God to the million or so Walmart Razorback fans. Go to a game up in the hills when the Razorbacks are playing Alabama and THEN make your comments.
Long live Inez Perez!

I like the pub but I agree. Do a coaches box in the bottom corner but put a player or 2 or 3 as the feature on the cover.

Longtime wrote:It's just an awful magazine cover, no matter who the coach is in it.

If the point is to illustrate "change" and TCU moving to the Big 12, why isn't there a Big 12 logo anywhere in the photo with Patterson?

Second, nobody cares about coaches. Football is played by players. Players move fast and run into things. A static, posed shot of a coach is about as boring as you can get when your objective is to evoke excitement about the coming season.

I think the editors of DCTF got caught up in trying to match their theme and forgot to come up with an eye-catching cover. Four pictures of coaches and no players? Are there no standout players left in the Big 12?

The big problem with the cover is the color, and with GP there is sooooo much of it.

The Beloved Razorbacks are now in a mini Dallas environment. Those that haven’t been to that part of the state in a long time will be in for a surprise. Walmart requires all its vendors to have onsite presence. That is all vendors so many major companies with very large contracts have very impressive 'presence' in that part of the state. And there is a lot, a lot, of money flowing. The Waltons have been very, very generous to the Beloved razorbacks. It helps to have a strong university just a few miles from corporate headquarters which can supply young and eager talent.

The Beloved Razorbacks have a strong following both in the state and nationally. And there is more than enough money to attract a top notch coach.

LSU wasn’t a great job until recently. Baton Rouge wasn’t a great city (or even a large city). With the growth of industry and the need for companies to have young talent, LSU began to transform its academics, endowments and athletics. A similar transformation is happening in the NW corner of Arkyland.

One has no idea if Patterson would be considered or if Patterson would consider the job. What is possible is for the Beloved Razorbacks to put up a strong amount of cash in a beautiful, growing and dynamic part of the state (and country) when they finally go shopping for a coach.

Agree with you - Arkpony. I grew up in Texarkana & visit there annually with family. Couldn't have said it any better myself.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I stopped in an East ARK barbecue joint on a road trip. In the dining room were framed photos of every local HS grad who played for the Razorbacks, in uniform, every local grad who was a cheerleader, in uniform, and -- this is what bowled me over -- every local HS grade who played in the U of ARK band, in uniform.

Hopefully in a couple of yrs or so we can get our series (back) with them but the way things are going today in semi-pro/college football (bcs-BS), i'm sure it'll be highly unlikely.
