Mike Leach would make a splash. He will definitely be ready to come back to the state of Texas by then.

Phillips was tauted as the next great recruiter particularly shoring up SMU's Texas weakness. I am still waiting to see where he has had any impact on any recruit thus far including the 2014 kids. I am not sure what the game plan was for him when he joined the SMU staff; however, it appears so far that he is concentrating only on coaching where he is getting positive reviews. SMU needs a recruiting focused head coach to evolve to the next level and JJ does not appear to have that emphasis.
