Bull. A&M was included on the PAC deal! A&M rejected it in 2010. UT wasn't looking to leave A&M, A&M was looking to leave them. It wasn't where A&M was going to be left out if they had stayed as you make it seem. It's the opposite.

The fact is every legitimate concern about the LHN regarding HS games, league games, etc was all subject to B12 bylaws and dealt with before A&M left. It was pretty much a bs pr move to justify the move in case of severe political backlash.

I know someone who really knows what happened and the money involved.

1) A&M left significant money on the table to leave for the SEC;
2) A&M was tired of playing 2nd fiddle to UT - jealousy caused it;
3) A&M figured UT would be forced to "join them" in the SEC thus gaining A&M power in the relationship; and
4) A&M figured the Big XII would implode leaving them in the catbird seat.

- With the Big XII viable and stable, A&M is in a bind b/c UT won't play them in anything - ever.
- Furthermore, other Big 12 teams are standing tall with UT and won't schedule them either. Baylor and Tech know that they nearly got left holding a bag of CUSA like proportions. TCU wants to get along with everyone. In a way, A&M united the Big 12 by accident.

Basically, A&M's in state rivals are likely to be SMU, Rice or Houston going forward. Expect to see them on our BB schedule soon as they want to bring their team to Dallas (for their alums) on a regular basis. Also, I would expect they might not be opposed to keeping us on their OOC FB schedule indefinitely with a possible move to the Cotton Bowl as part of the deal.

My take:
1- Possibly in the short term but long term no
2- A&M jealous of TX? I'll take obvious for 100 alex.
3- I don't buy this. A&M had to know that UT was staunchly against the SEC. If anything it was going to be UT taking Tech somewhere else or holding the Big 12 together.
4- I see this as very true. Having the Big 12 implode would have hurt the other three relative to a stable big 12 in recruiting. Raising your profile while lowering your in-state recruiting threats, thats what A&M was after.

-As for scheduling they can [deleted] up a rope. They travel well to waco but so do other teams. 2,000 butts in seats isn't enough to overcome the fact they were cheering for our demise. At least with BU & Tech in the 90s it was a "we are staying with UT & ATM because we have little choice".

- Will SMU routinely schedule them in football with BU & TCU on the non-con slate every year? Thats BU, TCU, UH, Boise, SDSU, and whoever BE#14 is every year as part of what amounts to 11 of 12 fixed games. SMU mights say that SOS gets too packed or that they need more than 6 home games.

I like that! Which means more $$$ for our athletic dept.

While I hate TCU - they absolutely sucked and were a nonfactor in the SWC after about 1960.

#1. Texas - deloss dodds, fans, mack brown, tom hicks - when they are bad you never see their fans wearing any gear; they go underground. When they win, you can't get away from them.

#2. TCU - even when they were bad, and particularly now. Just remember, we had a 19 year win streak against them. They'll never get there.

#3. Tech - sorry fans, residual mike leach

#4. Arkansas - destroyed SWC, broyles, holtz, jerry jones, pig sooie

#5. Baylor - grant teaff - hollier than thou sob, fake punt

#6. Houston - 95, jenkins, pardee,

#7. Texas A and M - my dad is an aggie, but they are irritating, especially if they win

#8. Rice - no comment necessary

1 Baylor-arrogance befits a fool. Still have a burr in the saddle for the impossible victories they pulled in the late 70's/early 80's. Plus, as a Baptist minister, having to listen to it on Sunday makes the sermon longer..

1a Texas-arrogance (earned and assumed). Great school, great expectation that everyone should bow down and be thankful to be in the same conference as them. Now they are trying to not look butt-hurt that folks (Nebraska, Mizzou, A&M) had the gall to leave their fiefdom...

2 Tech-Lubbock-cute girls with dirt in their teeth...Mike Leach..nuff said.

3 Arkansas-home of the toothbrush...anywhere else in the conference it would be 'teethbrush'. Not being able to buy gas until out of the state following a victory in Fayetteville because of the Mustang Mania sticker on the back of the car...

4 Houston-late to the SWC, and then dominant once they got there. Tough commuter school folks from the get go. Still can't own them.

5 TCU-can't rage too much against them, they are where I wish we could get someday...but their coach is the northbound-end of a southbound horse, and that puts them in a consolation slot.

After living the last six years among Aggies, I can honestly say I know longer hate them. They are more like your aunt that has a beard at a family reunion-strange, but they are YOUR aunt, and everyone just shakes their head because you know they are just that way. Maybe I am getting soft in my old age.

It's a tie for number One : 1A) Ken Pye- For what he did to my Alma Mater. 1B) UT- For always being aholes, and for leading the way, to kicking us to the curb back in '96.

Well said - 'statesman.

From what Art Briles says about old rivalries, our series with Baylor may be coming to an end. Being that coaches tend to have the upper hand on who their teams play, we may be looking for a replacement someday soon. Hope not but then again - I just hope we don't get a cream puff but a "real team" with some stature that will help put us on the map.

Man, all appropriate and due hate goes to UT and it's not even close. Then Arkansas and Tech because of their toothless obnoxious fans. And then TCU. Whatever on the rest.

#1 - A&M. Because they are delusional and their fan base borders on being a cult. They brainwash their young and everything

#2 - TCU. They would be lower, except for [Gary Patterson]. That sorry excuse of a human being shouldn't be employed.

#3 - Houston. It's the culture of that school that is the problem. With the exception of many of the UH fans here and on the CSNbbs boards, the typical Houston fan justifies classless behavior by their athletic program and exhibits classless behavior in their own life.

#4 - Texas Tech. See comments on A&M. Subtract trees, add sand. Less cultish, too.

#5 - Texas. Would be higher, especially after creation of LHN, but I'm the son of two UT alums so I can't hate them too much.

#6 - Arkansas. They left, and they are also Arkansas.

#7 - Baylor. Most Baylor fans I know are humble, down-to-earth, intelligent people. I also have a little bit of pity for them because they have to live in Waco for a portion of their lives.

#8 - Rice. They are like your nerdy cousin. Annoying, but you can also learn alot from them (just not about athletics).

Word up - i am surprised you are coming running to UT's defense (I guess the b*tch move is just a natural reaction for you now) since they were leading the charge to go Pac 10 and you would have been dropped to the curb so fast it was not even funny. In fact for a period of time it looked very bleak for Baylor until the Big 12 got back on its feet.

The "they were invited" thing is just revisionist B.S. - UT could have very easily created a true Big 12 network (like A&M is going to partner with UT to create the Longhorn network - right!!) with the help of their conference-mates and created something that had value and actually unified their conference - just like the Big 10 did. You didnt see big ten trying to name it the michagan netwrok did you? UT pigged it to death and ultimately created something that is obviously a failure and not sustainable. ESPN will figure out how to wiggle out of it - they arent goint to drive it into a wall for ten years.

A&M made a very rational decison that they were in a partnership with someone who doesnt know how to act like a partner. You will come to that same decision - and the folks at Baylor that ar ein the know probably already know this, but of course you dont have a choice as long as you are in that conference - and its the best available conference so you just live with it.

Be worried - you are only one UT better deal away from asking us for BE membership.

This is fun.

1. Texas. It's a good school but how can you like the big bully. Could never see myself there. Their role in our demise in the SWC.
2. TCU. Granted I don't live in Texas, but their overall arrogance has ballooned to astronomical levels. Yes, you have a good football team but what else you got?
3. A&M. Similar vibe to Texas, just not as in your face.
4. Texas Tech. I never understood why anyone would go to Lubbock for school. If it were a great school, that's one thing, but come on, it's TT. Also not sure how they managed to survive and stay in the Big 12.
5. Baylor. Same as TT, except it's a better school and in a far less remote area.
6. Arkansas. I dislike Jerry Jones for what type of team the Cowboys have become. That drops them a peg or too.
7. Houston. No real feeling one way or the other, except the score everyone mentions in '89.
8. Rice. It's the school we should try to emulate the most (academically). I never considered it for UG, but I'll root for Rice over any other program in Texas. What's not to like?
