I think Aggie had like 5+ sacks, i really hope we keep GG healthy. Big concern for these next two games. TCU is going to have a grudge.

im so ready to see this old fart gone. his offense is crap. it's slow, predictable, and outdated. looking forward to see who's our next coach cause JJ has obviously lost his motivation.. what an overated coach.. I just wish ASU took him and bailed us out
Who was the kicker that we got out of the newspaper after JJ put in a help wanted ad last year?

First...You are watching a guy who is going to be playing in the NFL very soon. Second, he is still getting to know the receivers and they know him since he has only been here a short time. Yes, sometime he throws a "4.3" ball to a "4.5" receiver and the timing is off a little but that can only improve. Anybody remember all the dropped passes when Bo Levi was here? Around 8 a game due to his flinging it hard with not much touch but look how he matured at EWU.He is still getting used to the head coach and his unusual style....I was hoping Phillips was integral to Houston and developing receivers and QB's what with Keenum and company but it doesn't look like he even gets to say hi to GG when he comes over to the sideline after every offensive play. GG is a great kid who is gifted and a team guy first who has been ubder enormous expectations since his days at Lake Travis. Hopefully he will enjoy himself and let his physical gifts take over. I have heard that Burcham is a future star in the wings

Hey Snob - you are mixing up your pathetically negative posts. This is where you need to degrade and make fun of our QB. If you want to degrade and make fun our our kicker, you need to start a new topic. That also goes for our offensive line, attendence, defense, special teams, color choice, etc.... After all, thats what good fans do, right? Negativly snipe in anonymous fashion on a fan board in hopes to drag everything down so that you feel better about yourself?

couch 'em is right.
He looks more the part than anyone we had at QB in some time. The receivers have been somewhat disappointing thus far. I think by mid season, we will see a QB in good form.

I agree that the number of drops is making Gilbert look more mediocre than I think his performance warrants.
Some of that is a lack of touch on passes, every throw seems to be hard. The receivers need to adjust.
That said... I think Gilbert, in general, looks a LOT like Padron. Slightly stronger arm, very slightly less mobility. Stares down his receiver from the opening snap (Gilbert is, in general getting better snaps to work with), takes a touch too long to decide where he wants the ball to go and responds to pressure about half a count too soon.
I'd really like to see a faster time from receipt of snap to release of ball. I want this offense to LOOK like the one that June ran at Hawaii. Fast delivery of the ball, and yards after the catch. It just doesn't. It looks like the SMU offense of the past two years.

He's doing well in managing the game right now due to very conservative play calling. He is one of the bright spots on this team right now (the other being Zach Line). I hope to see Gottschalk, DJ, and Hunt all healthy and playing out of their minds on Saturday. NFL scouts will be watching. Also, hope that Nlemchi gets healthy real soon. We will need him down the stretch.

Did Gilbert throw this hard in high school? He had a billion yards there with what had to be less talented receivers

The obvious answer is bleep no. He already got DJ hurt with one his errant throws. The poor guy tried to make a circus catch and gets leveled. GG's touch and accuracy has to get better or our receivers will continue to pay.

It's not just accuracy. He's got to learn the art of the touch pass. No need to rocket a ball to a wide open receiver five yards away.
Having said that, I think he'll be a good QB for us.

maybe the system at Lake Travis made him great[as well as others] and our system has yet to make anyone great here under JJ.

GG is going to be challenged to stay healthy these next 2 weeks and I'm sure JJ's play calling will be designed to protect his QB for conference play
True. A&M and TCU both have defenses that are a hell of a lot better than what we have seen so far.
how do we know TCU's defense is that good? they've only played grambling so far.
