i understand all the concerns, i'm just sayin they aren't all that, at least not yet. The Manziel kid is fast but he is just a kid. So, you guys want to sell me your tickets for 1/2 of face value? They aren't much good to you at this point.

I did not see the second half of the A$M game. The first half they looked great, the second half must have been another story.
On the other side, yes our offense did not look good. The game was somewhat disturbing, but DJ was out and Gott... was out.
I might be more optimistic though about the TCU game after the off week.
Just beat the Aggies.

Everybody gets caught up in the 'laundry'. Louisville is ranked #23. if they were coming to Ford on Saturday, would you be so pessimistic? Probably not. I hope our players are not as scared of the laundry as some of us.
Thank you! Best post I've read in a while. It's as if our fans feel it's pre-ordained that aTm blows us out. Sumlin is a very good coach with good talent. But we are playing at home and can keep the turnover momentum going (so much of turnovers is momentum - I'd say it's safe to say we have some momentum now).

The scrimmaging is over...Not sure about where GG is with the offense yet or whether Parks can handle a 4.4 WR, but otherwise we should be ready to play. Not saying we will win, but we will play a hel-lva lot better than we played at Baylor. Fire Up Mustangs !

The Mustangs can win this one. Kick 'em!

Florida figured out Manziel in the second half, and hopefully with a week to prepare, the Mustangs can make similarly good adjustments.

Manziel did a good job avoiding turnovers but they didn't have him throw downfield much at all.
9 screens for 53 yds
8 QB draws for 58 yards
1 WR trick pass for 27 yds
4 scrambles for 17 yds
Almost half of A&M's offensive yards right there. UF adjusted at half and killed the screen and QB draw and the Aggies went nowhere.
If you can hold up on the D-Line SMU has a chance to hold these guys. This isn't the same 2011 A&M offense with an NFL qb that can run. This is the 2011 UH offense with a mobile QB who hasn't proven he can throw at this level and a strong OL.

Didn't see the second half either, but read that Fla keyed on him and shut him down. Mason will spot it, just hope Margus is 100% and steps up. Did anyone notice Spike playing DT? I thought I did and he seemed to be playing the position well (he's a beast), but my eyes are older, so...not sure. Also, kudos to Hover on the 50 yard FG (called back - penalty). I didn't realize he had made it. He could be the secret weapon the way our offense is under-performing.

"2011 UH offense" in its second game. How did the R&S fare in its first few games?

I was talking schematically. Same base runs, base pass pro scheme, same basic routes.
Not saying Manziel was Keenum's level as a passer, in fact kinda said the opposite. Said it was that system with a new set of personnel.

In our talking about the fact that SFA had more offensive stats than we had, someone brought up a point that made a lot of sense. June basically wants the defense to create turnovers to get our offense back on the field. However, in the SFA game our defense made the turnovers alright, but then took the ball in for touchowns which then gave the ball back to SFA and not our offense. I'm not complaining about the touchdowns the defense made, but it did reduce the number of times our offense had to get on the field and score points. We actually may not be as bad on offense as we are making it out to be. Just a thought.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

WordUp, we're on the same page. I'm saying they're installing the scheme and it takes a bit of time like the R&S did at SMU and Briles' scheme at BU. Hopefully, June Jones has found a QB that can expertly run the system. Briles of course brought in "his guy" at both UH (Kolb) and BU (RGIII). A&M has Manziel who seems really good but he's still learning the system.

I wish I could comfort myself with that argument. Here are some stats relative to number of plays.
Rushing #83 in yards per play
Passing
- #96 in yards per attempt
- #86 in yards per completion
Pass efficiency #99
We gotta get better.
