Since 2000, TCU has beaten OU, Iowa St, Texas Tech and Baylor (3) and were 6-6 against all Big 12 teams.

I'm surprise by your low ratings I get the Kansas game wasn't great but at least you are making completions and shutting down offensive TDs. But for us it's general B for defense F for offense.

I'm with you on tradition and rivalries. Their reasons are mostly a moving target. Here is a sampling: they have no fans, it's not a real rivalry like Ohio State-Michigan, it's their super bowl, I don't consider it a rivalry, Baylor is our real rival, let's make Texas our rival, we are a big boy now and should play 8 home games, we don't need DFW games anymore we need west coast exposure, we need east coast exposure, let's play UNT the traffic won't be as bad, we gain nothing from this game, SMU hurts our SOS we need to play a team like USC, we are a big boy now we need to schedul cupcakes, etc.

As you can tell, the reasoning isn't consistent nor coherent. IMHO most of it is just cover for (1) denying the rivalry and pretending it doesn't exist (much like UT pretends not to care about Aggie or Michigan about MSU). (2) the best way to hurt our rival & be able to say neener neener neener is to cancel the rivalry and just have all time "conference scoreboard" instead of playing an actual game & risking having to take it from SMU fans for a year.

It's mostly our younger Internet obnoxious warrior fans. I for one believe playing SMU makes financial sense, exposure sense, and recruiting sense.

It seems wrong for me to rate a defense that low when they haven't given up a TD. But they've only played poor competition. And against KU I saw some issues. The front 4 did not create any pressure on their own. Almost all the sacks and pressures were do to coverage lasting 5-7 seconds. (admittedly we played very vanilla and only ran 2 blitzes and ran very few stunts). The LB situation just scares me. We are an injury or two away from having to switch to a 4-1-6. They were completely abused by the KU running back Pierson(sp?) on his routes out of the backfield.

But mostly I'm happy with how the D has played, but worried about their future. Youth youth youth. IIRC 80% or more of our 2-deep are Fr/So. I like their potential, but I have a hard to believing we are the exception to the rule that says great teams are made up of juniors and seniors. We should only graduate 3 starters off this team, I'm very hopeful for 2013.

I find that shocking. I was certain that TCU never won a game in the 70s.

That is crazy but I can kind of see some of their points. The thing is SMU needs to play hard and get better and never quit. Doing that adds respect from the outside. Maybe playing the rivalry game at cotton bowl or elsewhere at a neutral site might solidify the relationship. Like some said dress it up, hype it up in press. Noticing that Baylor will play SMU till 2019 and obviously TCU indefinitely this Waco, Dallas, ft worth trifecta of Christian (loosely for SMU) private schools can spice things up as well.

The thing where they said play cupcakes or have a challenge are a contradiction to each other why not get low travel expenses and still a more reputable win than a UNT but more sure win (given you guys recruit hell of a lot better win). The only one I can understand is if SMU wins this coming game it might severely damage any chance TCU will be ranked given our horrible losses

I truly hope the rivalry continues and if anything gets better and more glamour around it. I know some think it's our super bowl not because of difficulty but because it's one of the most exciting games to watch and enjoy and be able to talk to friends about because of the history of the match up an given that some rivalries have died (UT AM) we could be one of the oldest and hopefully the most exciting on TV.
