Yes, and I never stopped supporting the team on this board (not that voicing support on a message board means much). I show the team my support by going to the games, staying and cheering until the game is over (even when they're playing like crap and it's only me and a few guests left surrounded by empty seats).

Come on Treadway, you are one of the good guys on this board, it is a little more complicated than that.
StallionMT has over 3,500 posts. I would never question his support for SMU. He is simply of the opinion that you need to cut into a wound in order to heal it.
You want to know my definition of 'Sad to root against your team'?
Sad to root against your team is when you meet with ASU officials during one of the most important recruiting weekends in 25+ years at SMU.
Sad to root against your team is when you actively recruit players to another school when you are on someone else's payroll, which may have very well occurred during the ASU fiasco.

Lets clear this up, sbs supports the team.
Same for So_cal.
I'm the only one who has openly root against it (strategy reasons of course). I'm more on the WRs are crap rather than the team...

There was a little tongue in cheek inmy posts because i do understand the passion behind those posts. But though I understand the rip the band aid off quickly approach in regards to our coaching situation, it is unfair to the players who are and will play hard for our school. I played for SMU and had friends who left the team in disagreements with the coach. I would hate to think fans would root for my team to loose just to get rid of a coach they had a problem with.
I completely agree with your positions on his ASU folly. I also agree our situation as fans is complicated and I am personally conflicted by our dilemma. But i have to draw the line with hoping the team looses the rest of our games. My ire, such as it is, is more directed at alumni 11 who needs to throttle back on his rhetoric.
Lastly, So cal, I appreciate your calling me a good guy. I try to be a reasonable poster here. The ASU fiasco really affected my opinion of Jones, though I never appreciated his lack of regard for our history and traditions, I respected what he did for the school getting us back to competitiveness. But the ASU thing changed everything for me. Add his stubborn attitude on hiring even one coach who can recruit and his statements on the schedule and I have less patience and respect as time wears on.
Bottom line, we have Jones until he decides to leave so we might as well pull for the team. I do think it is time for a change at the same time i want to respect the JJ supporters because he had won here where others haven't. And there is my conflict.
Sorry for the long post. I had to get that off my chest. I have a longer rant in my head but will wait on that one.

Clarification, I did not mean to imply I played fball, I played for the soccer team.

T-21 good post. I agree with most of it except that JJ is here until he wants to leave. IIRC his buyout clause expires at the end of this season. If Hart and the CofC don't make him move on at that time then we will see there is no real commitment for top level success at SMU. JMHO

Thanks guys. I really do agree with so_cal and particularly his other thread.
Redpony, I would have agreed with but remember, the CoC took him back when they could of canned him after theASU debacle. If they dod not get rid of him after that, they wont get rid of him for much of anything.
Plus, I don't think Hart has the autonomy to fire him and Turner could not care less. So that is what I base my we are stuck with him comments. Best case scenario is he finally feels some pressure and retires. But my thought is he is too stubborn for that.

There are bigger reasons why Copeland was tolerated for so long.
couch 'em, what else happened in the SMU booster world in the mid-2000s?

I think it all comes down to December 13, 2006, I have just never been able to confirm it.
Then again Ford was the guy who found Copeland and brought him here.

ponyboy if we win the next two games....
@3-3 the wolves would mostly retreat back to the edges of the forest.
of course some wont...they want June fired even if we win 9 games!
like you i think it's possible we can still salvage this season
but I am worried..June seems miserable in interviews
we will find out soon enough!
