Re: TCU / Ohio State schedule home & home
Not saying we are better. Just saying they are dumb to schedule sure loss games when they have 5 a year on the schedule already. We have to schedule up since we are in a crappy conference. They need to schedule down because they are in the big 12.
Re: TCU / Ohio State schedule home & home
Who cares about making a bowl game at 6-6? What's the point? Would much rather play friggin Ohio State and go 5-7 than go 6-6 and play in the who gives a rip bowl. Lots of teams make it to bowl games - TCU has set its sights higher. We may not get there but we are willing to sack up and give it a shot. SMU needs to quit talking about 3 straight low tier bowls and take the next step up the ladder. Bowls games don't mean squat (with a few exceptions).gostangs wrote:not if you are not bowl eligible - which they wont be in either of those years. this is a gamble they dont need to make.

It meant a lot in 2009. It's 2012.ReedFrawg wrote:Bowls games don't mean squat (with a few exceptions).
Completely agree with your post.

Here's the thing - they don't view it as a "sure loss game". Unlike us, they expect their coach to recruit competitively and prepare his team for those games. Why couldn't they win? They beat Oklahoma.gostangs wrote:Not saying we are better. Just saying they are dumb to schedule sure loss games when they have 5 a year on the schedule already. It's time for SMU to play with the big boys rather than settling for being a Sun Belt caliber team.

Damn, we've really hit a rough patch when we are schooled by a Froggie! ReedFrawg is spot-on; time to sack up and get it done.

Hey I know it takes time. You have to start somewhere so I am not putting down 3 straight bowl games. Just pointing out that going to a bowl game this year (or any year) does not necessarily make it a season successful. I want us to play LSU and Ohio State...those are better than most bowl games anyway.RyanSMU98 wrote:Damn, we've really hit a rough patch when we are schooled by a Froggie! Re: TCU / Ohio State schedule home & home
i disagree. They can get all excited about having the stones to scheudle these guys - but you can fall back down the ladder as fast as you went up the ladder. TCU already has 5-6 VERY challenging games - the smart guys (UT) schedule cup cakes so that when they win Big 12 games they are in the top 10 due to record. TCU no longer needs to schedule games to get bodies in the stadium. The goal for a team like TCU is to try to get in that 4 team play off - and this move makes that virtually impossible. Its a bad strategic move for them - i am not making comparisons to SMU since they are not the same thing obviously.

Re: TCU / Ohio State schedule home & home
If TCU can continue to make inroads to being recognized as North Texas' team then they can get the recruits they need to compete in the Big 12. Will it be easy? No but it damn sure could be fun trying. The annual games in the Jerry Classic are a part of the strategy. This year has the potential to see a collapse though and could really hurt their chances of surviving in the Big 12. I don't see how you lose the numbers they have and not suffer a downfall. Paschal's suspension adds to that prospect. TCU could have been a real national Top 20 contender without the defections, injuries and suspensions. Now they just need to survive the rest of the season because its about to get bumpy

Looking at the schedule, if they don't win this week they could realistically go 4-8. They probably will find some wins somewhere, but it's possible.

We could easily have that kind of record as well........zimo wrote:Looking at the schedule, if they don't win this week they could realistically go 4-8. They probably will find some wins somewhere, but it's possible.

Yeah, but they've been ranked all season. It's a much harder fall.PonySnob wrote:We could easily have that kind of record as well........zimo wrote:Looking at the schedule, if they don't win this week they could realistically go 4-8. They probably will find some wins somewhere, but it's possible.
