Most of these spoiled brat twenty somethings on here who want to fire JJ don't realize it took TCU 13 years of great coaching to reach the Rose Bowl are IDIOTS
You should of left it on the first paragraph since that's true. Even though its masons defense that scored more than JJs offense...
TCUs rise to power was rising to the challenge and beating BCS teams as someone posted I believe couchem who showed their conquest whereas our only BCS victories were WashSTU, TCU and that's it I believe
That's right I kind of discounted since their coach was successful leaving the school but its in the record books I suppose
I agree, but the June supporters would throw it in your face if you didn't include it. MARQUEE WIN and all.
Haha so true, thanks for the back up. I'm glad we all can at least share in the happiness of the win. It won't feel the same beating Uber cupcake Memphis

He deserves to be fired, no matter the score of this game, or the results the rest of the season.
Maybe Longview should fire coach King for getting clobbered by Coppell, and Mesquite
Half the city of Longview wanted him gone. But then again, King won nearly triple he amount of games June has in his first 5 years in Longview (and nearly 5 times in just 9 years).

He inherited a 30 year tradition of the Lobos being a winning powerhouse Don't think JJ had
that luxury

And yet, Longview had done absolutely nothing in the 7 years prior to him becoming head coach.
You're comparing a coach who can't recruit at all but yet has not has a season where he has more than 3 losses in his career, to a coach who has NFL connections and can recruit yet hasn't had a season with less than 5 losses.
I'm not going to get into it over June tonight, because the team deserves to celebrate the victory. But June isn't the coach to lead this team into the Big East and it's been proven time and time again.
The name of the game in college football is recruiting. When it comes to high school and nfl they don't have to worry about that. That's why if JJ doesn't want to try or go out and get a big recruiter than he's useless when it comes to game time

Agree with what he deserves--my arguments on JJ have nothing to do with the win-loss column, but basic character flaws. Tonight is not the night to take from the team and enumerate. The team won in spite of JJ (which we knew they were capable of). Kudos to the Mustangs---play hard, play proud--I support you whether you win or lose. BTW, the first time I stepped onto the campus was forty years ago this fall. Not all of us are spoiled 20 somethings.
If we had held on to a few more INT's, we would have hung 90 back at them. Which would have been sweet. That long drive to peel off 9 minutes was greatness. ZL for Heisman. They knew we would run, they stacked the line for the run, and he peels off 10 yard runs one after another including the TD in which he would not be denied. Of course our naysayers on this board would say, he should have fallen down until fourth down and then put in the dagger just to make the clock run another couple of minutes. But 72 points against the Cougs, justice!
One game does not, can not make up for the deficiencies this team has shown from game 7 last year to now (mostly due to lack of recruiting and poor coaching). If the defense had not been so overpowering, there's no way we win this game; and since JJ has very little to do with the defense, he doesn't deserve all the credit he is being given.
I'm not saying fire him now, but with the way the last 13 games have gone, if the status quo doesn't change, I can't see him here next year. Let's just let the season play out, and if he can show a marked improvement over a six-game span to end the season, I don't think there will be as many headhunters out there. It would be nice to have a coach who has some flexibility on offense (jumbo package, run a play from under center once in a while, Run-first offensive mindset with arguably the conference's best RB, better clock management), but distracting the team right now with coaching talk is not going to help them win games.

Dennis Franchione got TCU bowl eligible his first season at TCU (better than June at SMU), conference championships his second and third seasons at TCU (better than June even if we do win out), and a 10 win season in year 3 (better than June). The fans that are upset, are upset because we have clearly stagnated. Yes, we have gotten to bowl eligibility the last few seasons, but have not really done anything nationally relevant. TCU was ranked in the top 25 by the end of Franchione's third season and had a Heisman finalist that season in LT. I would say that is nationally relevant. Nothing wrong with our fans and administration wanting that kind of success. It doesn't happen overnight, but it does take a consistent effort and an upward progression. Neither our wins nor our recruiting suggest we are trending upwards. At this point I will be satisfied if this season ends with more of the same, but progress is not being made towards the end goal, which is "Top 25 in everything we do."
