The bottom line is our coaches, players and fans should strive for the current best possible outcome, and that is winning a conference championship. Something we haven't done post DP. I don't give a damn if the bowl is in Hawaii, Birmignham, Dallas or El Paso. For our head coach to suggest we are playing for a lower tier bowl game instead of our conference's championship bowl game when it is well within reach is an absolute embarrassment. I can't imagine this would be tolerated at any other schools in division 1A.

If he wants to be in Hawaii so bad then he needs to just retire and move back instead of trying to do whatever he can to bring us back there. I'm so sick of his obsession with Hawaii. Regardless of external or internal goals, you should always say we are going to shoot for 4-0 this last part. We are going to compete and win a conference champ and bowl game (wherever that may be). Either way, it appears to the public that he will do anything to get a Hawaii bowl invite. The only defense one could make for the Hawaii bowl is attendance will be bad like it is at home.

Shouldn't say stuff like that in public. Public comments always need to be positive, forward momentum, and reaching high standards.

This type of comment--if accurate--is a rookie mistake and JJ is no rookie.

And it's no way to fire up the fan base, or those who might think about following the team. JJ's given us another opportunity for folks to say "meh".

We (SMU) should be embarrassed by having such a loser for a coach. It is obvious that jj just does not want to be here. Like Stallion said I can't imagine any major university having a coach that does not say he wants to win it all.
