Belleville (correct spelling) had an "Emmanuel Sanders Day" earlier this year.
I'm sure it was awesome!
That's funny you mention the spelling, because I double checked the spelling on the SMU site before posting (which is another major problem SMU has...)
Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy for him and hope he does well - it's not like I am hoping he drops passes or anything...
I am just annoyed SMU lost a chance at some national publicity. We need all the help we can get.

I owe you an apology. It IS Bellville, not Belleville.

For those of you who were wondering about why ES did not mention SMU during his intro last night, here's the explanation from #88 himself:
"Respect and love SMU but we have a problem in my hometown of kids not striving for goals because they believe they can't make it out of Bellville. I wanted to show them it's possible. It was deeper for me than just saying my school."

Of course there was. Anyone following or knows ES, realizes he is a proud Mustang. He is a asset as an alumni of SMU. Go ES 88!!!

Lighten up....what a bunch of drama queens.
Honestly, I might have done the same thing. There's nothing wrong with relating more to your small town than a college. It sucks for us who want SMU to be heard across the world, but it is what it is. Let's actually recruit and coach up players and we'll have more and more SMU shout outs in the NFL.

If you want to know about ES 88 and his props to SMU, follow him on Twitter or Facebook. Same with Sterling Moore. (Although Sterling has been a little quieter as of late.)
Go Ponies!!

Pretty sure Sterling has a bit less to say from the practice squad than he did when he was playing in the Super Bowl, but your point is well taken. Neither has been shy about their love for their alma mater. We have enough issues around here, do we really need to invent a new one?

Some of you need to learn some restraint. You are embarrassing yourselves and SMU as a whole with these idiotic comments. He played football at SMU, but SMU did not make him. He stands on his own.

If you go to his website, he has the Mustang logo on it. I am happy for ES and all of our players who are making, or trying hard to make, their dream of playing professionally come true. It is great that these young men are handling themselves in a wonderful way and making their families, and their SMU family, proud of them. Wishing them all continued success.....
