how could you blame them if they ultimately decide to stay more regional where all their sports can share the same conference mates?

Big East bball will remain strong and Big East can keep the "brand name", but it's looking more and more like CUSA version 3 if the Big East continues to play football.

Villanova, St John's, Seton Hall, Providence, Georgetown, et al disagree. The Big East will go on. The question is what will happen with the remaining FBS football schools

I think they may form their own conference before competing in basketball with us, Houston, UCF, etc. Maybe not though, I certainly hope not.

Unfortunately there aren't many schools that could fill in as replacements if the BE loses several or more schools. In addition I think the TV value has just dropped dramatically- they should have signed a deal a while back..

Any deal signed within the last 12 months probably would have been contingent on not losing any more teams.

yep-probably true but a least we would have had an idea of 'potential' value.

If we can keep Boise and SDSU on board out west, bring on AFA and BYU, and then Navy that's not the worst scenario. Better than being stuck with UNT, UAB, and La Tech

The Big Ten is a hell of a basketball conference. Might even be better than the ACC these days with Michigan being back in the thick of things. Ohio State, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and sometimes Illinois. That's extremely deep, and four of those teams are in the top 25 (3 in the top 4!!). Football may be harder AT FIRST, but with the way the BCS has left the ACC out to dry, they WILL lose their automatic bid in the next few years. I don't know how this is anything but win/win for Maryland.

and very bad for the ACC and BE.
