Watching Lance McIlhenny and Craig James crash through defenses like butter today is still impressive and anything but sad. Kids born in the 1990s really haven seen sports domination like SMU had going then and they are still impressed when they see it.

Look if others want to wallow in this fine, but 95% of our university has moved on. Enough already. Lets live in the present.
The comeback attempt initially preceded the book, so your argument is flawed. There's just a push by fans now that the story is public. It's not a publicity stunt.

I can tell you I spent 8 months chasing playing again where Orsini, Jones, many assistant ADs and coaches, selected CoC members were the only people who knew...I did not go public because I thought media would kill my chances and I wanted SMU to warm to it gradually. In the end, people like Jim Dent heard about it and chased me...
There is no money in writing a book unless you sell 10s of thousands...it ain't about money.
I was pretty clear about my intentions on the Ticket...here is the podcast... http://t.co/QQ1ksjqE

Re: DAVID BLEWETT as a WALK ON
The book signing party was fantastic and I am grateful that my wife spent part of our wedding anniversary attending.
After purchasing the book and reading David's story, it brought back memories of what my father used to say. My father played football for the Army Air Corp back in WWII. Yes he was big for a pilot.
My dad used to make comments about Texas and the abuse of stature. How Texas used his tax money to provide for a scholarship football team of 2 or 3 hundred players. Many more than a small private school could afford.
I remember him talking about the politics played in Austin and lawyers covering for ut players.
I am the 9th person in my family to graduate from SMU. I was a high scool and JC wrestler and only played... PRACTICED football at SMU my senior year. I had fun, learned the game from a good coaching staff and made lots of friends. I became a Kappa Sigma through a team mate (his son is now playing soccer at SMU) and had a great time. I got face value for any ticket and nothing else but encouragement. I ran scout team fullback (no comments on size please) and the coaches wanted us to beat on the first team, the best we could. Make them better.
Thank you for educating me on the names and background relationships that garnered such preferential treatment for SMU.
I remember the day when my father... three years on dyalisis called and with sadness in his voice and asked me to root for Texas. That night Texas was playing in California for the Natl Championship. We spoke about how it was difficult to do but this one time... We had to.
Now my father is now in the National Cemetary and I can not ask anymore questions.
My prayer is for SMU to work harder than ever before to reach out to Dallas (all parts of Dallas) and preach the truth. SMU IS the University in Dallas, the one that has helped Dallas, grow and stay strong. I pray that we have a Faculty, Administration and coach that want to WIN. Not be OK but WIN. And I do not nor have I cheated.
