he was hitting on about 42% of his passes after 3 games-now its about 60%- close to 70% in last 6-7 games

I think it was because (1) he missed the bus to A&M and (2) he called the wrong formation on the 2 interceptions in that game. I've heard from former players (including SMU players) that a player who misses a team bus is typically subject to far worse sanctioning than just benching. Padron got off easy.
